Question PCV Valve every 3000 miles???

I just happened to pay attention to the bag I was carrying my oil and filter in last oil change and I noticed it said to not only change your oil every 3000 miles, but also your PCV valve. Are you really supposed to do that? I mean I'm sure it wouldn't hurt since I've personally never done it but every 3000 miles? Any input is appreciated!

Nope.

However, if you are having oil consumption issues, you can go with the LS6 PCV and LS6 valley cover.

Go figure, the people selling them want you to chnge them every 3k miles.

The only time a PVC valve needs to be changed is when it becomes inoperable. All it is, is a one way check valve.

Am I retarded or do the later years ('01/'02) come without PCV valves? I just installed a catch can and don't recall seeing one.

^ HTey have PCV valves, and someone correct me if I'm wrong, but they are just relocated in 01 and 02's.

And no.. It's a waste of money to change the PCV valve every 3k miles.

I would love to do the LS6 PCV conversion. It pulls crank case fumes form the valley on top of the cam instead of the valve covers where you have all splash oil cooling and lube for the top end.

It involves pulling the intake manifold. That's about it.

Bayer just stated the pros of doing this in the post above yours.

The parts needed and instructions are listed on Installuniversity.com and LS1howto.com

I saw that but I'm just not sure WHY that's a pro?

Is there any hp to be gained from doing the conversion?....or is it just for less oil consumption?

Less oil consumption. You also have to grind a small portion of the block.

Unless you're lucky like me and ge ta 2000 with an LS6 "style" block. It isn't an LS6 block but it was cast with the LS6 valley.

The reason for doing this mod is strictly for oil consumption worries. There is way more oil vapors in the valve covers than there is in the lifter valley.

What exactly does the PCV Valve do? I would guess vent oil vapors?
