Question Passkey Problem??

I have a 2000 Z28 and recently have had a problem when attempting to start the car. When I turn the key to the start position, nothing happens....everything goes dead. Clutch is pressed all the way in.

Security light comes on steady for 3 minutes, then goes out. It usually starts on the 2nd or 3rd attempt, but I have to wait 3 minutes between tries. I suspect the pass-key system, but the key is clean and both ignition keys produce the same problem. It is intermittent now, but I want to avoid being stranded later on. What can I do to fix it?

Any comments, suggestions, ideas would be appreciated.....Thanks!!

Mine has been doing the same thing for the last year or so. When the security light is flashing the car won't start for 3 min. All other times it starts on the second try.
I believe you can have it deleted using LS1 Edit, but I'm not sure ?

if it's your key, then have you tried your spare key? it's unlikely that both keys will go bad at the same time. GM can test your key at the parts dept.

I've had a similar problem with mine recently, except my security light dosen't come on. I called the dealership and they told me it is most likely the ignition switch. That hasn't been confirmed yet, I take it in to get looked at tomorrow.
