Paint Problems??
This happened a while back, but I just got my car back, so I decided to share my story now...
I was washing my car a couple months ago, and as I was spraying off the hood, a 1"x6" strip of paint peeled off, right near the hood scoop. At first I just stared at it incredulously, I couldn't believe it happened - 2 years old and the paint isn't sticking anymore?? I was on vacation at the time, but the next day I called up the local Chevy body shop and talked to them, they said that the manager would have to look at it to determine if it could be a warranty claim or not.
It took me a while to get in to see the manager because I was really busy at work and he didn't work late hours, like I do sometimes, but when I finally did (about a month later), he looked at it for about 5 minutes, then said he would have to talk to the service manager because he had to approve all warranty repairs (note: didn't say no yet
) So he calls me the next day and tells me that the service manager has to see it before he can approve it. I arranged to bring it in the next day. I show it to the acting service manager, and he says that he needs to talk to someone else the next day because that guy approves all the warranty repairs (note: still didn't say no
). I get a call a couple days later to tell me that they would repaint the hood under warranty for me
Next question - rental car. He looks into it and says that he can get me a car (or at least part of one, from my opinion - I think the engine was missing a couple cylinders and a few horses, but it worked) so I got a stylin'
green cavalier coupe!
They took my car Monday, told me 2 or 3 days, and I got the supercavalier for a week. Wednesday they said it would be done, but then later they said that the buffing was taking longer than expected, so I wouldn't get it til Thursday. (no big problem...rental cars can be fun
)Picked it up Thursday - looks great!! It was quite a PITA to go through all the different channels, but ended well. I'll post pics as soon as I can.
I'm still annoyed that this happened, anyone else have any paint problems on these cars?? I'd really like to hear if they did...

The paint peeled off of my V6 but it was painted after a semi truck decided to not stop. So I took it back to the guy that painted it and he painted it again.

I've actually got a problem w/ my paint also. About a month ago I was waxing my car and on the hood i could see and feel little bubbles in the paint. At first it was just in one spot, but lately I've been finding them all along the edges. At first I thought the car had been wrecked and had a bad repaint, but I had some people look at it who know their stuff about cars, and wrecks and what to look for and all said it was NOT wrecked. I don't even know if I can get it painted under warrenty since its 3 years old. Any ideas of what I should do??

If I had extendo arms, sure I would use them to steal me some sticky buns. But I would also use them to rescue children stuck in wells!

i bought my 2000 red z28 camaro brand new and i notice a over spray from the factory on the left side of the spoiler u can see it up close...another problem is that i got a ding on my door, which is supposed be dent resistance, after i washed my car i looked at the dent and i notice that theres a crack starting in the paint..now iam wondering what i should do..should i brng the car to the dealership that the paint is staring to crack, it wasn't like that before when i found the ding below my door...my car still has the 3 year warranty and my car has only 10,500 miles on it...just curious if the dealership will fix that crack in the paint for me.
