Pacesetter LT & Texas Speed catted Y pipe

Just ordered Pacesetter LT headers and the catted Y pipe from Texas speed. Current cat back is SLP loudmouth. Anyone else running this header catback combo? Other mods SLP lid, bellows and cold air intake. My car is a 98 Z28 with 6spd. What gains should I expect over stock?

The loudmouth will be marginal with the long tubes and cats. Depending upon your tolerance for noise, you might need to get a bullet welded in where the resonator is.

The cats might help clean up the exhaust note a little bit, its hard to say. As mentioned above, you might have to have a bullet put in or something else, it is all dependent on how much you like the sound. Some people love LTs and the LM catback, others don't.

I went to ls1sound site and couldn't find this combination. Guess I'll wait to see how it sounds, I love the way it sounds now but know it will be louder just don't know what to expect. What bullet muffler would you reccommend if it is unbearable?

Cancel that order for your y-pipe if you still can. That's what I ordered and the fit was HORRIBLE. I let it bang under my car for a few months before I had a custom exhaust shop cut part of it out and fabricate me a new piece so it wouldn't bang anymore. TS&P didn't believe me when I told them about this either. Either I got a runt or their design is better. Just wanted to let you know. If I had to do it again, that y-pipe wouldn't be it.

too late, I'm having a shop do the install & the guy who is doing it said he can fabricate pipe(s) if needed. My car has 103k on it & I figured the old cats were about done anyway. Just got all my parts yesterday, but it will be a few weeks before they are put in. Hope everything goes well

If you have to fabricate something that's supposed to be designed to fit your car, it's a waste of money, you might as well have the guy do a custom y-pipe for that matter, and that's what I told the company when I called them. The part that banged bad on my y-pipe was under the driver's floorboard.

just got home from work, do you still have the car? Did you do the install yourself? My y pipe is in several pieces and has clamps. Do you know other people that had problems with the TSP y? I went with their's over the pacesetter because it had the cats and figured an ory would be too loud with my loudmouth catback. Did it bang all the time or just under certain conditions? It will be the 18th before my car goes in to have this done, any install advice for the y I purchased?

I have pacesetter LT's and Texas speeds catted y-pipe with the Hooker catback and my car sounds great , kinda like the bigblock chevelles and camaros sounded like back in the late 60's and early 70's . I can't speak for anyone else on the y-pipe, but I have ZERO complaints on the fitment . I mocked everything up BEFORE even going under the car to make sure everything was OK. When I installed the y-pipe I did not tighten ANY of the clamps until the exhaust was completely installed, then I checked every inch of the exhaust system to make sure all was good . I then tightened the clamps just enough to drive the car real easy to the local muffler shop and had them weld all the joints . I have taken the y-pipe off several times since the initial install and re-installed it with no problems by myself . In my opinion, if you take your time and don't get in a hurry , you will be pleased with the outcome !

thanks, I'm excited to hear the sound. Did the headers make a performance difference you could feel? I have a lid, slp cold air setup with bellows and loudmouth catback. I'm hoping to have a low 13 or high 12 second car after the headers. It is a 98 z with 6spd and I've never had it to the track-do you think these few mods would get me there?

I'd say 10-15rwhp with the headers. Probably could benefit with a tune at this point, but not really needed... you should definitely notice a sotp difference.

12's should be no problem.

Although, i'm not sure with a 'catted' Y you might be ok with the LM1. I'm putting in the Pacesetters/ORY here in a week or two and i'm gonna go with the Rumbler (basically a LM1 w/ a Dynomax Bullet) to soften it down a tad.

Either way it's a great mod!

Good luck.

My cousin "should" be in the 12s, but he's currently in the high 13s due to having bad launches, missing a gear here or there, etc.

If all goes right, you go with sticky tires, and you don't blow up your rear end, then yes... 12s are attainable.
