oxygen senors

I have a 00 z28 i was wondering if the 4 oxygen senors i have on my car are all the same? I bought 2 new ones for the front cause ppl at autozone said bank 1 was the front 2, but i later found out that bank 1 is the driver side 2. So i took the one from my passenger front and put it on the driver rear now, and my code is still on, my cats are off, but i pluged my senors back in when i cut them off. Thanks guys

Re: oxygen senors

Need more info. What code(s) you throwing? Thinking they're rear codes if the cats are gone? AZ always wants to blame things on 02's, they could atleast get B1/2 and S1/2 right.

P0420 is rear (post cat) 02 on drivers side. Did you remove/gut the cats? If so it's normal to throw P0420 and P0430. If that's the case you either need 02 sims for the rears or have the codes turned off.

Re: oxygen senors

I guess the guy just gutted the cats but i remember he pluged them back in so it would not throw a code. I was thinking where i took the passenger side front and put it on the driver side back if that could be my problem. See i bought 2 new oxygen senors for the front senors.

Re: oxygen senors

If the only code was P0420 it was never a precat sensor problem, pretty sure they're interchangeable (make sure they're tight and no leaks), length of the harness might be different though. With stock cats and P0420 usually if the cat is bad it'll throw P0420, under 80K they're covered under the federal emissions warranty.

Re: oxygen senors

If the cats are gone or gutted it doesn't matter if you plug the after cat sensors back in, it will still set a code.
If you want the code to go away get O2 sensor simmulators or get a tuner to delete the code permanently.

Re: oxygen senors

I ordered my O2 sims from Texas Speed. Pretty much anybody that sells f-body stuff will have them.

Edit: I can't find them on Texas Speed's website, but they are $90 from Speed Inc.

Re: oxygen senors

thunderracing.com sells them too - look under "exhaust." Or get a local turner to turn them off, usually they'll charge whatever their one hour shop fee is.
