the low coolant sensors have a habit of failing on the LS1's. I have heard that it is due to the kind of antifreeze but dont know for sure. My light has been on for quite a while. It doesnt do anything. I just check the level from time to time.

Is it overheating or just moving? '98 was the last year the temp gauge actually worked. Are the fans running after the ignition is shut off? If they are the PCM is seeing an overheating condition. Low coolant sensors are known to go bad, lots of people just disconnect it to keep the light off.
