Post Optimum shift point?

I've got a 2001 TransAm WS6. What's the best shift point? Also, if I install a shift light, what should I set as the RPM for the light to come on?

I've heard you should set the light to 5800. you could go 5900, but unless you're REALLY quick shifting, you'll nail the limiter.

Mine is set at 6000. I do hit the limiter in 1st gear though sometimes....all the rest of the gears I am fine.

Well, I was thinking of getting that shift light that has the dial on the back to adjust shift points. If possible why not try 5850? By the time your mind reacts to the light, you would be at 5900 or so.. Just a thought.

You can only adjust by 100 increments on my dial in shift light. I am assuming all are that way.
