Open exhaust manifolds

Well till I get all my money for LTs, ORY and install it I plan on running open exhuast manifolds. How does it sound. Even with my cutout its to quiet for my taste. What about gains, even though theyre not that important since I'll be getting Lts anyway but I'd just like to know.

If you're talking about running STOCK manifolds open, I'd say keep a fire extinguisher on hand and don't go too far from home----sounds like you'd should expect to get stranded real quick or watch your car go up in flames. Not to mention the SES light blinking an immediate repair code. Anybody disagree with that?

Have you ever seen your car under a lift? You can barely see the exhaust manifolds. They are way too high up there to be running open "headers". They would shoot flames and heat all over everything in the engine bay... that's not a good thing. I would definetly wait until you get LT to attempt open headers. Even then I've heard it's a bad idea. Supposably after you let off the gas after hard acceleration it can suck cold air through the open headers into your block and crack it. If you need more sound get a loudmouth. They are louder than cut-outs since the sound reverberates in the muffler before exiting the vehicle.

O2 sensor on left bank is in y pipe. Car won't run without it.
Just leave it be until you get your new parts. Patience is a virtue
