oops I arched the battery!
oops I arched the battery!
My wrachet hit the ac canister when removing the battery....i know i know.... negative first right? anyways, afterwards I got in the car and turned to the "on" position. Everything worked (cd player, interior lights). When I tried to crank it, it made a quick noise, then EVERYTHING was dead. What have I screwed up???
I had the EXACT same problem after header install. What i had to do after replacing some other parts that i broke, was tighten the battery clamps.I mean tighten em good.Try to crank it,if you do and your alarm light is flichering irregulary then go to your battery and tighten the clamps some more.Don't break em,But tighten em good. And then try.
well actually that battery is working in another vehicle right now, so it's definately not that. Ill try again tomorrow morning. Is there a fuse maybe that I blew? would the starter solonoid be linked possibly?
Alrighty....round 2. I put the battery back in the SS and set it to chargin'. When the battery charger read full charge, I disconnected it, got in my car and hoped for the best. The same thing happened. Radio, inside lights, gauges worked. Tryed to turn it over then it clicked, and everything was dead again. So to rule out that the battery was bad, i set the battery charger to "engine start". I could retain constant power throughout the car untill i turned the key, which caused everything to blink off and made that clicking noise. My car won't start! help!!
well i did do both before the install... just to make sure that wasn't the culprit as well. and as for tightening it, lets just say ill have a hard time gettin it loose. plus, the battery charger was on engine start....so it had all the juice it needed to crank. What does the positive cable run directly to?

Hey there,
Check all your fuses, mainly the ones in the driver's side box, you know, inside the car.
What I have "heard" is that if you arch off the positive to anything metal, that your PCM is fried. I don't want to scare you, or cause confusion, but this is what I have heard. You can only tighten the battery cables so tight. Obviously, it is not your battery
When you turn the key to the ON position, do your fans come on?
You need to get a scanner tool and run it, if it shows no connection, the possibility is your PCM.
Good luck, and let us know!

no the fans do not come on....or if they did i didnt notice. I checked all the fuses in the cab and they were fine, but I was looking the under-hood ones. A few of those you cannot see the inside of and one is labeled IGN. an ignition fuse maybe? I have a tool to check all of those fuses, and will try that tomorrow. And i have a buddy with a scanner, so we can get that done too
thanx a bunch !!
