Once and for all MAF Screen removal

Is there a 100% decision on this issue? I just picked up another magazine listing it a free mod on the LS1.

I haven't done it...don't plan to either.

I did remove it on my '96 though and never had a problem but I don't think I gained anything from it.

no. people will still disagree.

that being said, i de-screened mine on the dyno, gained 3 RWHP.

don't think anyone can argue with those results... but i'm sure they'll try...

i'm not sure if you've been on many forums, but there is no once and for all. this question will be posted again within a few days along with the 2 or 3 catback a day questions. it's not complicated, make your own call on it if you don't trust the undecidedness.

Speaking of detonation, on my 97 v6 camaro I had an NX nitrous kit that BACKFIRED and melted the mass air flow screen, sucking it straight into the engine! lol Didn't hurt the car, but holy sh|t was I freaked out!

I tried it both ways and ran better at the track with the stock screen and ends.

What I'm running now is the stock front MAF end with the screen in place, but the back MAF end is ported and polished.
