ok, I've made up my mind... What first...
ok... I got it!.....My long term goals are H/C Blown LS1 W/ a forged bottom end and a small whif of nitrous or methanol to help further cool the air charge... Of course the bottom end and the heads will bump the compression down a smidge. Although I have come this far to figure out what I want to DO w/ the car, I sill have to figure out what first....
I REALLLLLLY want a D1SC Procharger... but it's $5,500 for the kit that I'm looking at. I also like the lope of a cam.... I was originally going to save a couple grand for a H/C setup for the spring.... But I won't be able to afford the D1SC until next deployment.
THat's kind of why I'm piecing it. I could do the nitrous first... but then there goes the $$ for the H/C for the spring...(But the n20 and the H/C would be about equal for everything I want) The D1SC will most likely be bought next deployment... but I'll also need a new rear by then... that's $2,200... But the bottom end cant handle boost AND nitrous w/ a H/C... So it'll almost be the Boost, then the bottom end then the H/C, then the nitrous/methanol.
It's going to be around $19000 for everything I want... iiesh.. big number... TO finish the car that is. After all that I should be good.................... yeah RIGHT!...
Help me make a SOLID decision!... I keep getting sidetracked and say... "Ah, this is easy and cheap, I'll do this first!" ... I'm a very indecisive person!.. I expect all this done around 2009... Deployments rack in a lot of cash, I expect two more w/ my remaining time.

Re: ok, I've made up my mind... What first...
#2 for the blower first all the other parts will fit in well if you start with the blower. Have you checked out the new Kenny Bell roots chargers they have for LS1's yet pretty sweet peice if you ask me.
Re: ok, I've made up my mind... What first...
^^.. No I haven't checked the Kenny Bell's. Link?.. I've been a D1SC fan b/c of the self oiling. Also a good kit as far as quality and fit.
Re: ok, I've made up my mind... What first...
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one trying to figure out which route to go. First I wanted to do a procharged 370 with alcohol injection. I came up with about a $20k price tag for that.
Then, I decided I don't want to spend that much money. So I decided on a 408 with a lot of spray.
Now, I think I'm gonna do a h/c 408 w/L92 heads and just shoot for 550rwhp n/a.
Decisions decsions.

^^ YEah. I hear that. I WAS going to get the nitrous for a quick, cheap and easy temp HP fix... but I LOVE the blowers! But the D1 kit is fawkin pricey! If I get a good quote from Tom B, I'll bite. But otherwise.. I can get the nitrous now and then get the blower after my next deployment... that should be about this time next year. I had 12g cash after this one. I splurged on the car too easily. I've got enough susp mods, but I need more power now...

says for corvette but I am sure it will work on any LS1. I just like the roots style blowers a little better.

Dude, don't get an STS. Just save your money for the procharger and you will be way happier. I'd build a nitrous motor before going with an STS, but that's just me.

Yeah... that idea got shat canned quickly. I did some search research on it again, and it sems that LT's aren't good for an STS, B/C of temp drop. And the tubing that goes under the front K member where the blow off valve is would get ripped off easily on my car... It seems rigged anyway..
Yeah, no STS for me. I want the D1SC.. I guess I'll have to save. If I can find affordable financing (looking into now)... I'll bite. TBYRNE dosen't have financing. I kind of understand why. THey might have gotten stiffed to may times.
Re: ok, I've made up my mind... What first...
When I was planning a procharger build, I was looking at the Speed Inc. kits. I think that would be the ideal setup. I guess it all depends on what results you're looking for. I was shooting for 850+ RWHP, now I think 550 will be plenty.
Re: ok, I've made up my mind... What first...
For the money you will spend on a procharger and everything else to go along with it, I would just get a nice stroker motor from one of the supporting venders and put a 150 to 250 shot of nitrous on it and go out and kick some ***!
Re: ok, I've made up my mind... What first...
Like I said... I'm indecisive and more options are really making things difficult!...
...
For the price of a FULL nitrous kit (w/ everything I want) I can get a H/C
package. I've found an affordable set up thru Speedinc.
I think this should work w/ a lowered compression motor. But If I stroke it, wouldn't that bring the compression back up again? Because it's takeing in more air from an increased throw?
I'm lookin at this H/C set up: $1700 Comparing this to the other choice I was given in my last thread.
Patriot CNC Stage 2 Ported Heads, 64cc chamber.
GM MLS Head Gaskets
Felpro Head Bolts
Choice of any Comp Cam Grind
Comp Chrome moly Pushrods
GM Crank Bolt & Seal
THe Cam: 224/232 .581/.595 114
I'll need the 225's for the Blower, tho right?.. THen I'll still need the Timing chain, springs, and oil pump....
....
Also, Why do I see larger CID motors w/ FI running a high LSA #? The Speed Inc SS has a 117 LSA. Would a higher LSA do a better job of keeping the gasses in the CYL douring boost and valve overlap? Would 114 be too much overlap for a blower motor then??.. It should be fine for 8 psi, but when I sroke it I might need the 117 because of higher boost levels.....
