I use Mobil 1. The thing I realized is that my car eats less 5W30 oil then 10W30. Anyone have an answer?

This is going to turn into a huge debate on which oil is best, but here is my opinion.

If you change your oil+filter every 3k miles just stick with Mobil 1 Synthetic 10w30 or 5w40 depending on the weather conditions.

If you want to extend your oil changes use either Redline, Amsoil, or Schaffers(good luck finding it). Change your filter every 3-3.5k miles and the oil+filter every 6-6.5k miles.

Use redline fluids everywhere you can, they are great fluids. Stay away from Royal Purple...it is a good oil but not as good as Redline and Amsoil.

You can go 5000K to 6000K on Mobil one and oil filter, oil analysis will support this.

I use the following:
Motor: Mobil 1 (5w30 street, 15w50 road course)
Trans: GM Dextron III
Diff: Redline
Brakes: Motul 5.1
Power steering: RedLine

I also use the Mobil 1 oil filter. I drive the car pretty hard, both on the street and on the track. It has yet to break anything, so I do not plan on changing any time soon.

I am using Royal Purple 10W-30 (I live in warm climate).

I changed from Mobil 1, and got rid of alot of the noise and tick at startup.

hmmm...the oil analysis reports that I have seen with Mobil 1 on ls1's don't support that theory, but I know I haven't seen all the reports so I could be wrong. From what I have seen Redline and Amsoil consistenly are better. Also you need to take into account how many miles were on the motor when the oil analysis was taken. I personally only look at higher mileage oil analysis reports, atleast 50k miles on the motor, I feel the report is more accurate that way.
