ok well as i said i have a little question about what is going on with my car and its oil pressure... i have no mods besides like an air lid, and the oil pressure seems to get a little crazy when im driving it even just normal, at idle its fine and is where it is usually at low 40s but it was getting in the 60 to 70 range with regular accel??? can anyone help this girl out

when the motor is cold youl get more pressure

When the motor is hot youl get less pressure

you will normally see close to 40 give or take at idle (depending on miles/hot/cold)

Oil pressure should INCRESE with RPM.. so on accell the pressure will rise..

thats all normal..

if its at 60-70 all the time something is wrong..
if its at 20 something is wrong..

hope that helped

Hmm, not good my buddies car does 60 at idle and goes to almost 80 at high rpms. I'm not all that familiar with the ls1 oiling system, what is the high pressure indicative of?

my oil pressure does the 40 at idle, to up to 80 under acceleration. This is a good thing in my view. I want that oil getting to the parts that need it. I attribute the good oil pressure to a well designed engine and oil pumping system. I may be crazy but everything seems fine if you pressure is varied with acceleration. The time to worry is if it drops all of the sudden or spikes off the gage. Then it is time to crap the old shorts.

Here's how mine runs and that's how I believe an LS1 should run since my oil pump was already changed do to failure.
At idle its right below 40 or around 45 psi when warm of course. Oil pressure doesn't want to build or there is no oil pressure? That's your oil pump taking a dump. Under acceleration it goes up close to 80 psi, that's heavy acceleration. Now if you accelerate and your oil pressure goes up close to 80 then drops and starts going up again that means you have low oil and you should add a quart since LS1s love to chew on oil.
