Oil changing question?

Oil changing question?
Guys, on a 02 SS that has about 700 miles on it, should I change the oil? The oil is orginial. Should I add some the GM break-in additive when I change it? It has been in there since the car is new, but I heard to not change it for like 3K? So what should I do to break the engine in properly? Im going to use regualar oil first.

Straight out of the factory I changed my oil at 500 miles just in case any debris from the brand new engine may of came loose during the break in period. After that, its every 3000 miles with Mobil 1. That is my routine anyway.

I went 0-4225 changed to mobile 1 oil and filter
4225-9100 (4875 miles) changed all fluids in car to amsoil for a test
9100-16520 (7420 miles) changed with amsoil again
16520-24459 (7939 miles)Part amsoil part Mobil 1.
I use my synthetics for the purpose they were built. To extend my oil changes.

Yup - change the first out fairly quickly.
I did that on my '99 T/A at around 500 miles, and on the wifey's '02 Saturn at 600 miles.
Per my hot rod mechanics suggestion.
I waited 'til around 5K before I experimented w/ syn oils, but I do not think using syn prior to that will really have an effect (negative).
If it did, would they use it as factory fill in the Vette ?
I try to go 5K on name brand Syn oils - 3K on dino.
I have yet to hit that mileage, though, as the oil change light comes on prior to 5K and I change it at that time.
Came close this last go-round w/ the Royal Purple - like 4700 miles, including 1 trip to the drag races & about 7 passes.

Yes, you should change it. For $20, it'd be kind of silly not to... error on the side of caution, IMO.

Well Im asking because to break in properly GM puts an additive in all new oil when it leaves the factory and I heard it should be in there for 3K. I know the oil needs to be fresh and since mielage is low the engine might not be broken in. But a lot of you guys said you changed @ 500 and put regular oil in? So im not sure what needs to be done yet in regards to this.

I always change the original oil out at 500 then regular intervals from there on out. My Buick has almost 200,000 miles on it and I still don't have to check it between changes. So I don't think that it hurts them.
