I change mine every 4,000

I think it can go 7,500 but since oil isn't that expensive I like to changing it sooner.

I personally wouldn't change it any later than 5,000

I change mine every 3-4000 miles and I use "half synthetic", mostly Castrol. The Mobil synthetic lubricates better,no doubt, especially when starting the cold engine, however it doesn't mean you can leave it in forever... when it's dirty it's dirty and needs to be changed... remember the good old days when they built the 427 high compression engines ....did they even sell synthetic oils back in the early 70s ???

I change my Mobil 1 every 3,000 miles. Screw the dealer, I wouldn't go longer then 4,000 without changing it... well, I PERSONALLY wouldn't go longer then 3,000, but as a suggestion i wouldn't tell you anything longer then 4,000

BTW, don't skimp on fluid changesand other maintenance things with your car. If you drag race the car often, or drive it hard, or hell even under regular driving, your car will appreciate it in the long run (by not dying on you that is). Oil changes a thousand miles or two earlier then you'd really like are a small price to pay for the benefits in the long run.

I change my oil with conventional (carquest brand by Valvoline) every 3000 miles... Actually if you are driving the mostly on Freeway/Highway and hardly do any city driving then you can stretch oil changes to every 5000 miles and still be safe.. Since it depends if my oil is a little dirty but not that bad I will go over 3000 miles but if it is dark brown almost black, I change it no matter if it has 100 miles or even 1000 miles... As a general rule every 3K but if I am driving like 65 Miles a day one way to work then every 5K won't hurt either..

Dr EviL-

Are you from Colorado and did you ever have a friend by the name of Chris P. who moved to Florida around '95?

The reason why I ask is because your e-mail looks VERY familiar, I know I've seen it on a forward before.

I change mine right before 2,500 miles. There's a lot of construction going on in central FL and it probably makes the oil dirtier.

That is the sole reason for oil changes, not mileage. I change mine every 3,000 miles (or every three weeks) because the oil starts getting black and contaminated.

That's way too conservative. Syn oil should be good for 10K miles (assuming you're driving a lot).

I change the oil every 5K miles. I've got almost 300K miles on my 88 IROC with the original motor. The motor uses 1 quart of oil every 2.5K miles.

My 3,000 miles are up and I changed the oil today. I use Mobil 1. I am sure you could easily go 5k even with fossil oil you can go 5k.

I put Valvoline in the Camaro and Mobil One in the Vette since it came with that from the factory. I've always changed the Camaro's oil at 3k miles and plan on doing that with the C5 also. Oil is too cheap to not replace when you're supposed to.
