oil change light wtf?

If you were to change your oil anytime...why the hell wouldn't you reset the computer?

Maybe, like the OP, they didn't know HOW to re-set the computer? Just a guess, I'll admit-

Turn your key to the on position and tap the gas three times and the light will be reset...

I never reset anything when i change my oil, i just keep a log of the day and milage and thats it. When the light comes on i just do the gas pedal thing

Apparently the Oil Life Monitoring System is supposed to be pretty advanced ... I read a pretty big thread over on one of the 'Vette forums about it ... GM really spent a lot of time developing the system .

However, I still have a hard time breaking away from "tradition", and since I'm too cheap to run full synthetic all the time, I usually aim for regular oil changes on or about the ~3k mile mark . I just reset the light whenever it comes on. Typically seems to go about ~5500 miles between resets (so according to that, I'm changing my oil almost twice as often as deemed "necessary"? ). Oh well!
