At 10K Mobil 1 is just starting to pick up particulates. Tons of replies on this subject just search around. If you change your oil every 3K, just use dino and save the money. If you change Mobil 1 at 3K send it to me ill use it for another 12K and just change the filter and top off every 3K

Thats the thing about synth that people don't follow is the filter change every 3k miles.

FYI, Walmart has the tech2000 oil filter that is actually pretty good. Just get them to run it instead of a fram.

I'll have to ask about that filter on my next visit!

Can you change the filter without draining the oil? I have visions of oil everywhere! And the filter itself holds almost 1/2 qt so you'd have to replace that.

When you change out just the filter as I do. You will lose a little oil it wont all drain out. Just refill the new filter with fresh oil and replace the filter. Run the car a few minutes shut it off and check the oil levels. Refill as needed. It wont kill anything to just put in a dry filter but its better to have it primed.

PS: to those who say its cheap insurance to change at 3K intervals go ahead and waste the resources it wont make any difference in the long run. Regular oils fine till 7500K as in the manual. Synthetics last 15-20K + and dont loose viscosity but do eventually pick up contaminents. Use a good non restrictive filter and change that at regular intervals. Your car will be just as happy and you will have more $$ for mods and useless Mobil 1 caps and decals

these guys documented 18K (!!)

http://neptune.spacebears.com/cars/s.../oil-life.html

I advocate 4 K to 6K on syn oil.

"Dynosaur" is acceptale but Synthetic is better.
