Re: Oil

Since I got the car, I always put 6qts in..
The manual will tell you a tad less.. Like 5.5.. but if you drive it hard and take some serious turns (I auto X as well) 6qts is best.

I use AC Delco or Mobil 1 filters and I only use Mobil 1 5w30 oil. Walmart has the 5qt bottle for $21. I get 2 at a time.

Re: Oil

Erhm, I've actually only been putting 5 in but my dipstick is well into the "okay" range...

Curious about filters...

How are PureOne Oil Filters?

Re: Oil

i just put in 0w 30 GC and my oil pressure dropped like 7 psi at idle to almost 20 psi then again it is 110 here

mobile one it never went below 25 in the cooler weather if that made a difference...

i used K&N gold oil filters.... figure why not go to the best

Re: Oil

0W 30 would be relatively thin, did you use that weight before and why would you in AZ???

Re: Oil

I've used 6 quarts of Mobil 1 synthetic since I've had the car and haven't had any problems.

All of these motors hold exactly the same amount of oil. The difference in how much you need to refill after an oil change is due to 2 factors.
1. How much of the old oil comes out. Motor hot or cold. Angle of car. How long you let it drain.
2. What filter. Stock or longer.

Change it cold with the car tipped up from the drivers side use a stock size filter and you're in a hurry, 5 quarts could fill it.

Change it hot with the nose up do something else for a while as the oil is draining use a longer filter, 6 quarts to get to the full line.

That's your variation.
