Oil 2 quarts low...WTF!!!
I drove from Chicago to Memphis this past week and added ~1200 miles to my odometer. I checked my oil prior to leaving and it was fine. Got up this morning and my low oil light was on. Went to get an oil change and the tech said it was about 2 quarts low. He said he noticed no visable leaks. Sounds like a warranty issue to me. What could be going on? The car now has about 25k miles.
I went thru 3 quarts in 4000 miles but I did 10+ runs at the strip. Normally I go thru 1-2 qts. every 3-4K. I shift at 3000-4000 all th etime which will probably cause more oil usage. I have an extended warantee so when it gets REAL bad I'll bitch.
anything more than 1 qt at 3k is BS.some tend to use less after the mileage goes up due to people running syn. oil right from the start and it slows down engine breakin.
mine uses a little between changes but nothing to be worried about.i would think if it was leaking that much oil youd smell it dripping on the motor.id have GM look at it.

Well, a few things.
First, the M6 uses more oil than the A4. Us M6 guys tend to keep motor revving higher and in the upper end of the RPM range for longer periods of time.
As for the PCV, there is a redesigned "Fixed Oriface" PCV that you can get from the dealer. It eliminates the valve inside and simply uses a fixed diameter hole to regulate the flow. I swapped to the new design and although it didn't help me, it has helped others.
Good luck.
Oh, the new PCV is part # 12572717. If they tell you it won't work on your car, tell them to give it to you anyway. I *think* it's for the 6.0L truck motor.

When I change my oil, I put in 5.5 quarts. 500 miles later I will add the other half-quart. And the other day, about 300 miles short of the 3000 mile mark, I added a little short of a whole quart. I usually shift under 2k RPM.
