Next power mods? hotcam/heads?

In the spring i'll be looking to do a little modding.

Now i'm going to go headers/Y-pipe for sure......and I would like to start internals with a cam.

Anyone have any experiance with the LS1 Hotcam kit? install time? etc.?

Can I put in the cam without changing heads right away.......i might be on a bit of a budget.

I also know Thunder Racing sells some good cam kits........I wanted something streetable but you would still know its there

Stock heads are fine for a hotcam. Also for the power gains a HotCam kit is a great deal. Only thing i was wondering when doing a hotcam is will the stock fuel system support it?

Thanks for the reply.

So if I just install the hotcam kit, any other engine upgrades required?

If you have an auto it will need to be tuned, a tuning is recommended either way, but for an auto it's pretty much required.

i dont think they are realy required but if you want full potential then you should get some LT's, a bigger MAF, and a bigger throttle body. The stock ls1 heads flow very well for a stock car, and run great with a stock cam. However, if you are looking into getting heads later on i would find a cam that is designed for a sertain set of heads. The hotcam is maid for stock heads. You may look into the hammer cam it is a little more aggressive than the hotcam.
