Smile Newbie Here

Hey everyone,

My names Myke and I'm actually a member over at GM-Trucks.com. I have a 94' Silverado, but my father recently purchased an 01' Camaro Z28. I thought it'd be in my best intrest to get here wiht you guys and start a quest for knowledge here.

First question...
My fathers check engine light just came on. The car appears to be running fine and mileage is approaching 48,000. What all triggers the lights on these cars? Is it possible this could be due to the Ethenol mix could causing this? Is anyone else seeing this as well?

Car is tripple black 01' 6-speed. Thanks again everyone.

Re: Newbie Here

Welcome to the site. Enjoy!

One of the most common triggers for SES-light is improperly tightened or defective gas tank cap.

There are many other variables, too, but that's something to check first, though.

If the gas cap is OK and the lighy doesn't go away after a few drving cycles, take it to AutoZone and have them scan/clear the code, then post the code here and we'll go from there.

Thanks again!

The guy at autozone should have told you what it meant. It's well within his or her capabilities. Call them, and get them to tell you if no one here can help.

Re: Newbie Here

IIRC, code P1416 is related to the AIR pump.

Do some Googling, and I bet you'll find a bunch of good info.

EDIT: No need for Google. We have out own search function here on the board, too. http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...ighlight=p1416
