It costed me 26k. It was the only one in this area with a six speed and all the options i wanted, and they were originally asking 27 for it. My dad knows a guy high up in the dealership and he said they only ended up making $500 on the sale.
btw there was also a black 2002 z28 there for sale with all the options, but it had 50k on it for $19k.

It's crazy the difference in price between a SS and Z28 for identical performance... nonetheless, sounds like a great car! Congrats!

you people with your SS cars i looked at one when i bought my Z but it was A LOT more money so i had to settle for a Z28. My Z is as fast as ur average SS but no matter what i do to it itll never be an SS. i guess ill have to get my gears and converter soon and start ripping into stock SS cars to make me feel better...

congrats on the new car bro BLACK and SS = MEAN

Performance is about the same, but there are some things they set it apart. First of all 17's with nicer tires. Figure the cost of the wheels at $500 for the set, probably conserative since a dealer wants about $450 for one. Then you add in Goodyear Eagle F1's, thats about $250 a tire. Then you have the hood. Thad be about $500, then you have to get it painted. It is a bit more money, but I think you get your moneys worth heritage/looks wise. But as you said, performance isnt much different. I think it looks much meaner though I just got mine for 16k though, so its all good.

I am sorry but I have to reply when people keep say "performance wise" the z28 and SS are about equal.

I have to strongly disagree. correct me if I am wrong but I believe the SS package was $3,500.

I will start with appearance ( i am talking brand new stuff no deals.)
1. hood = $1,800
2. spoiler = $350
3. rims = 1000

performance
1. Suspension upgrades are more than noticable.
(Sorry I dont know what the cost would be)
2. Tires (F1s) = $250 x 4= $1000
Edit: almost forgot the only power difference... more free flowing exhuast.

I will state that in a straight line if a Z28 and an SS race who ever the better driver is will win ( MOST of the time it will be the guy with an A4)

Sorry about my little rant, it just builds up after a while!

Good Deal, and trust me the dealership did make more then $ 500... Which dealer did you get your car from (was it Todey or Paradise Chev Dealers ??) If I would have found an 02 SS m6 7 months ago, I would not have my Z!!! But again congrats.. Hell I drove from Santa Barbara down to your area to buy my car from a Chrysler Dealer (since I know the Sales Manager and Finance Manager)...
