new ss

Hey everyone, I am extremely exited right now i just got through trading in my 98 v6 camaro and bought a 2002 black ss 6 speed with crome 17 inch rims. I absolutly love this car. I also test drove a 2002 z28. I gotta say the ss is worth the extra money. I could tell a difference in power and sound. the ss was more tuned sounding but the z had a sweet sounding roar. I also liked the ss suspension better. btw both cars had identicle options. I also the the hurst short shifter it comes with. much shorter throw than my dads vette. Both of our cars feel alot alike in power.
Thanks for reading i am so glad i traded the v6 for the ls1. What a difference! btw i am going to keep this car completely original.

Welcome to the club. I just officially got my SS this morning, I think. Ive been driving it for a while now, but I think my dad actually paid for it this morning. It was my sisters old car, but she is pregnant and was selling it, so we bought it for what she owed. Which was a little under 16k for a 99 SS w/ a little under 34k miles. Which is a pretty nice deal, especially since Ive driven at least 6k or more of the miles from 21k to 34k. She got it used, but we dont know the first driver. Since Ive pretty much been taking care of it I know it wasnt beaten too hard, so its mechanical condition shoud be good. Although it does need a few things done, damn squeaky belt!

Thats awsome. IT sounds like your cars i a little bit on the factory freak side. I haven't got a chance to run my car yet against anything. I will get some track times really soon and see how well i do. btw what kind of transmission do you have. All i can say is I LOVE MY SS. IT only has 10,000 miles on it

Congrats on the new purchase! You should slap a better exhaust on there so you'll be even louder and as fast as a Z28 with aftermarket exhaust!

THANKS
I took my brother for a ride in my ss. He owns a 00 civic with a body kit and a few other things. I hit the gas at about 3k in first with the traction control on. after i shifted to second and let off all he could say is wow this thing is fast! He was very impressed by the car, and now he is ordering a turbo kit for his civic to get it up to speed. This car is a lot of fun.

codyman, I got an M6. only way to go, after driving both an a4 and M6.

Siggy SSs already come with a better flowing exhaust then the Z28s.

Clean black SSs are sweet. Very cool car. But I must ask why keep it original? If its to mantain its unmodified value just do things like air intake and other things that can be replaced when its time to sell.

If you want to get your build number, just register at SLPs message board and they have a forum for posting your vin# and they look up your build #.

i am planning on getting an intake and maybe a few small mods that can be easily replaced but i an not going to modify it internally(heads, cam, pistons) i like the ss exaust already and it already has ram air induction(even though it can be further upgraded from under the air box. I just really like the looks of it already and i really cant think of anything that will make it look better. It has the chrome ss rims already. i am open to suggestions as long as it is nothing major. I don't plan on selling this car even when i get a new one, which will be like 5 years.

i will have pics up very soon!

I guess I'm in the new SS owner club too. I got rid of my 70 SS 2 weeks ago and bought me a 00 SS m6 a week ago. It isn't necessarily my favorite car color (red) but for it to still have a warranty and have gotten it for under $17k, I can't complain. The red is even growing on me. The best things about it are the speed and the handling.

I have yet to run it to see what it'll do, but I am getting ideas for mods.

i dont think you need to worry about getting a new intake as you already have the ls6 intake. you probably already have the slp lid also. throw a cutout in the exhaust and you'll like it even more. as far as making it look better, i think lowering springs would help alot. our cars look like 4x4's stock.

would lowering springs hurt the hanling at all. if not how much would you lower it?
