New oener, simple questions! =)
Just picked up my 2000 Z28 and am planning some mods...
What can I expect over the stockish numbers with the following mods in mind:
SLP Lid
Granetelli Maf
Catback (what diameter should I use? 2.5' or 3'
Headers
Pulley?
Has anyone had any experiance with the MAC Header systems for these cars?
Whats the deal with the Y-Pipe? Coming from Ford I only know true duals, why dont they follow the same system? is there any advantages to running true duals or does the y work great on these cars when you open it up?
Love the Camaro, and hope to get some answers from you folks, I know there nublet questions but im a quick learner.
Any Fbody owners in the Ontario region gimme a PM =P

Congrats on the F-bod! With those mods I would say 330 rwh or so! Go with a 3" exhaust like a TSP Rumbler or SLP Loudmouth. As for headers, depends on how much you're willing to pay. Flowtech and pacesetter are cheaper and pretty reliable! Good luck bro!
Not sure why they used a Y pipe, I know you can't put true duals on a car that didn't come from the factory with true duals so it might be a smog thing. If you don't have emissions you might as well get long tubes and true duals.
With MAC headers and catted Y pipe, a lid, smooth air bellow, MAF ends, and TB bypass I dynoed 313rwhp running pretty rich and in a A4 (more drivetrain loss). Stock you car should dyno around 300rwhp. 340rwhp should be easily attainable with the mods you listed AND a dyno tune.
Welcome to the board "newblet".

with a dyno tune i would say you could put down 330 at the wheels without much problem.
i agree with the header statements above. the MACs are good pieces, if you have to pass the sniff test or are planning to lower the car alot. long tubes are the way to go if you want straight power.
on a bolt on car you will only see maybe 10hp in peak power with true duals over a good catback/ypipe system. however the low end torque loss could be greater.
unless you are planning a serious hp car..i would stick with a 3" system with a ypipe. and even if you are planning high HP, you could go with a Ypipe and the mufflex 3.5" or 4" exhausts. it is argued by some that the 4" system outflows most 3" systems
i would look into something instead of the maf sensor though. they seem to be 50/50 as to power gains and power losses. some love em, some hate em!
i would take that money and maybe do the 85mm ZO6 maf conversion or just take it and buy a Super Sucker Ram Air...the gains on the highway are great!

I agree on the MAF statement. Stick with stock or get the ZO6 or SLP (basically a Z06 MAF). The larger MAF isn't needed until you go internal or get forced induction.
Headers, if you price around you'll find that you can get long tube flowtechs or pacesetter w/y pipe for less than you can get Macs.
I know of no 2.5" catbcaks for the LS1. They all start at 3". Duals seem to produce more power under the curve and have a great sound, but also have some clearance and legality issues (depending on state). It all depends on what you want and the sound/loudness you want.
As for the lid, check around and buy a used one. There is always someone selling one.

I would skip the MAF for now, just not worth it for just having bolt-ons. I would definitely do the lid. The Mac's are a pretty good system. The cats aren't that great on the system and for our recent customers, it's taken 2-3 months for them to get there headers. If you are not worried about smog tests, look into a long tube w/ORY. There are a few that are priced right at and even cheaper than the Mac's.
The cat-back you want just depends on what sound you want out of the car. If you are looking for something louder, look at our Rumbler system. Or if you are looking for something on the quiet side but still sounds good, look into the Hooker system. We also have a true duals system available.
A pulley won't show a big gain on the dyno but it consistantly gives a ..08-.1 at the track. If you have plans for a cam package or a heads/cam package, you should also look into getting an LS6 intake.

congrats on your fbod. i also have a 2000 Z28 A4. all im running right now is mti lid, and loudmouth with a dynomouth exhaust and hooker full length racing headers and off road y, also did a free ram air. just like what pretty much everyone just said run a lid, and definitely run full length headers. cheap ones are flowtechs and pacesetters. my buddy darkangels running the flowtechs and said that its install was way easier than my hookers. the real expensive headers are flp, qtp, kooks, and even the slp. macs are good headers. but your better off with the full length. another mod to do is gears. if you got 2.73 i say ditch those. and a good 3 inch catback should help. the loudmouth, borla, hooker are the popular ones. stay away from blowmaster though...good luck
Thanks for the responses guys,
Im hearing different things when it comes to porting the stock throttle body and adding a MAF, some say its good, some say it isnt, whats the deal?
I was gonna order the flowmaster catback today, whats the problem with it TXZ28LS1?'
As for my mods I ordered today, I ordered the SLP Lid and an SLP Strut Tower Brace and the 160' Thermostat.
let the modding begin! =)
AS for the Grantelli MAF, I know of a used one for sale in the area so would be getting it for 200$ canadian, which isnt bad, but need to know if will make a difference =)

Where in Ontario are you? I'm from Michigan, but I'm currently at my cottage in Brights Grove, Ont. Not too many f-bodies around here. A few ragged out 3rd gens, and some dumbass kid with a 93-94 v6 that thinks he's hot ****.

the thing with blowmaster or flowdisaster is that apparently it doesnt flow well. i was shocked myself. im real new to the whole fbody thing and pick up from people. supposedly with flowmaster it doesnt flow well and that people lost hp putting on flowmaster compared to running stock. oh yeah btw, my 2000 Z28 A4 with just the mti lid, and loudmouth dynoed 304 hp and 310 tq. i was pretty damn happy. only thing killing me is those 2.73....
