Actually, Futral did build a streetable 550rwhp 408ci LQ9 auto (around 580rwhp with a manual) L92 car for pretty cheap ---but they used a carb --- something I wouldn't do if you're the least bit concerned about fuel economy and running a big hood and cutting your cowl.

If anybody could do it, I knew they could.

You can make serious power with an L92-headed car, but you'll need someone experienced in L92/LS3/LS7 builds to design a custom cam for it --- like Futral Motorsports.

Like I said before.. the ports are so big on the heads that you'll need some serious cubes and a serious cam to go along with it.

Honestly, I'd never go with a nitrous setup -- not that they don't produce -- I just don't like it because the power is never available 100% of the time. A big cubed LSX build or even a forced induction 347 build will make you tons of power. Any reason you don't want to go forced induction? I made 514/466rwhp through an auto and went 11.teens @ 126 on a stock-bottom end 346 LS1 with a Procharger P1SC (small blower), 212/218 .550 cam, stage 1 LS1 heads, and a laughable 2400 stall. My wife even drove the car.

Have you priced a built LSX 454 shortblock? $7-8k EASILY built with good parts (not Scat, not Eagle) There goes your $10000 budget.

All you have left to buy is about another $5-8k for everything else (entire fuel system, intake manifold/TB setup, complete ported/polished heads with rockers and upgraded springs, pushrods, lifters, camshaft, other various nick nacks that will nickel and dime you to death, etc). Hope you can turn a wrench because that doesn't include labor and R&R of the old motor.

Figure around $13-14k for everything on a built 454 LSX (without labor), not including dyno time (another $500+).

I hear ya, dude. It's just going to be impossible to make that kind of power (600rwhp) through an auto for $10000 on motor.

Since you have such large power goals on $10k, I still think building the most cubes you can for the cheapest ($300 junkyard LQ4 or LQ9) and topping it off with the best set of heads/cam/intake setup will be what you want.

The main questions:
Do you have any reservations about:
A)High Compression and Race Gas? (over 13.5:1)
B)Carb Setup (Blah.)
C)Nasty Cam (250-260+ @ .050")

I, however, don't like any of those situations, which is why I stayed away from those things (trailer queens). Some people don't care because they are building a track car, but I like knowing that I can drive mine wherever and whenever I want.
