Hey Ppl! I just got a used 01 z28 about a week ago. Its got power everything, monsoon, hurst shifter, 32k mi and an M6....one complaint i have is the gas milage i get out of it, i'm only getting like 130 miles for 13 gallons in the city. Thats only 10 mpg..is this normal? and this is babying the throttle...any comments would be appreciated

No, 10mpg is definetely not normal gas mileage for these cars. You should be get getting more than twice the mileage.

Is the car running okay? No hesitation, sputtering etc? Have you checked the air filter?

You need to have somebody check it out. It is still under warranty, too.

thanks for the welcome and comment. Ive tried cleaning the Air Filter Element cause it was dirty as hell. I dont seem to notice any hesitation what so ever so I'll probably take it to the dealer since it still is under warranty

 

hey welcome to the board.....and ya something is wrong u should see a lot more miles then that.....your gas tank probably has a hole in it or something.....lol

 

As far as the gas mileage goes, it depends on where you drive. I live in New Orleans and if you have ever been there you know that they have the WORST streets in the nation ( completely true ). Because of all the pot holes, dips, divits, tight turns, etc... I never get out of 3rd gear locally ( maybe 4th if i shift just before a red light/10" pot hole... ). I average around 10 mpg ( of course I only drive 5 miles a day ( if that ). Highway i still get 27-28 mpg...
