new exhaust

Guys I just finished installing my new Magnaflow catback.....it sounds freakin awesome !!!! Man what a nice deep throaty tone it has at idle and cruising speed. It sounds tough as nails accelerating. I have one question though. My 2002 Z-28 has the 35th anniversary trim package with the ground effects molding. The tips for the exhaust are not low enough, and the top of each tip is above the bottom of the trim. This is resulting in some of the exhaust gasses blowing right on my trim molding. I need about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch for it to get under the molding. Horizontally, there is about a 1/2 gap between the end of the tip and the molding, so there is no hot metal touching it. My question is...is there a way to lower the tips so all of the exhaust gasses pass under my trim molding? I'm a little concerned its going to burn my paint. Thanks in advance for the help

its not really a good idea to have the exhaust spitting out still under the car...the bumper catches it and it could conceivably leak up into the passenger compartment.even if this doesnt happen your probably still gonna damage the paint on the bumper from the heat....if i were you, i'd either look for a set of new tips (maybe flat ones that dont come up as high like banks or Z28 style tips) or take the car to an exhaust shop and ask them if theres a way to straighten everything out for ya....
