New cam but no 12's
I tried this post on LS1 tech and haven't got much response. Can you guys help? Here's the results from my track visit on Saturday. I'm disappointed I couldn't hit 12's. Mods are in the sig. I haven't got a new tune since I put the cam in (and I know to get one, it will be in the mail soon), but I was expecting more than a 2 mph difference. Here are the results of my best pass:
TR 224/224 .565 int/exh, Kuhmo street tires, not tuned for cam. All other mods in sig.
R/T: .013
60': 2.180
330': 5.923
1/8: 8.881
MPH: 83.39
1000: 11.392
1/4: 13.481
MPH: 108.31
The 13.4 ET is slower than my previous best before the cam was installed.I was still on kuhmo street tires, and I know I need to get new tires for sure. But I'm afraid of breaking the rear. How can I get into the 12's on street tires? I know I have 12's in it. Any suggestions on launching/shift points with the new cam?? Any help would be great. Thanks.

You sir need to practice, that's all. With a bone stock 98 SS M6 I ran a 2.03 60' and 13.30 @ 107 back in Oct of 98. And with my lid/loudmouth A4 Formula I ran 1.96 60' and 12.98 @ 108.
Your 2.18 60' and by the mph your shifting need some practice. What rpm are you shifting at now?

yeah no kidding...to several of the responses...
the short time sucks...practice launching or get better tires
and there are about 100 cams on the market...we aren't mind readers...
as for shifting...most cams require you to spin to 6500+...so shifting too low will really affect your ability to take advantage of the cam.
and the tune...could easily be 20hp

Get it tuned and some susp mods.. LCA's RLB's, TA, and good rear shox.... o yeah, and decent tires.
When I knew I was replacing my stock tranny and clutch, I tought myself to launch w/ the stockers. FWIW..

without some cam specs and what it made for power, ther's no real way to tell what the car should be doing. I'm gonna guess the cam has to be on the small side and you're probably shifting way to early, the trap speed is more like a stock car.
My car when I just had bolton's trapped a best of 108... so if you're only trapping there something is very wrong.
You also definately need traction/suspension on the car, and the stock type tires you are probably still trying to run on are a waste of time, at a minimum get some nitto's for the stock wheels, et radials would be a better idea, a set of 15 inch drag rims with 26 inch slicks would be alot better idea.
And if you're still on the stock rear, just start putting $ aside for a 12 bolt/9 inch, because the first time you try to drop the hammer at 5500 like you need to with a stock car to run a good #, the rear's gonna blow up.

Sorry, I forgot my Sig didn't have the cam in it. It is a TR 224/224, .565 Lift intake and exhaust, 112 LSA. I'm shifting at 6500 RPM and I hit the rev limiter at 6700 if I cross the traps in 3rd. I have hit a 2.03 60' and hit a 13.29 last year before the cam was installed. Trap speed was 105, but I have seen 106 w/o the cam. The car was tuned for the header mod, but I have to order the new tune. I have not been driving the car to much because I can tell it's running rich. I'm launching the car right around 2000 RPM give or take a 100. I have not had any dyno time, so all I have are HP estimates. I understand I need to get tires and a tune. But how do you guys launch, I know its been asked a lot and I have searched the forums, but I'm not used to driving it with a cam yet. Also the elevation of the track is 2500'.

Are you sure that's not a TR224?
244/244 with .565 lift doesn't sound right.
Either way you're going to need a Tune and that could be holding you up right there.
Good luck!
