Question Need more power!!!!!!!!

My friend just bought a totally stock 2000 SS with 19k. He wants to drop the 1/4 mile 2.0 seconds, at least. Anyway what are the best options for the LS1 to get that kind of power?

Uh wow. I don't know if anyone knows the answer to that. No one has ever tried to make a Camaro or Firebird faster.j/k

well 2 full seconds is no cake walk, so tell him he better be prepared to spend between 6-8k at least. there a a few different routes you can go about to get there, but each have their performance and amount of money to decide. heads/cam/intake and nitrous is one way to go. intake/tb/supercharger running about 10lbs. would do it. a fat turbo. new motor completely like the MTI 422 super-stroker. you really need to decide what route you want to take, because different things need to be done to the car for whatever route you want to travel...

I often wonder about these posts.. Mainly cause I dont often find anyone with $ and a lack of knowledge doing something like this. So why would they ask? More over, why didnt your friend ask himself? The question just seems to be too hypothetical to me cause your "friend" should know better. Especially if he intends on handling a car that travels 11's.

Yea thats gonna be a fast car. And it is gonna be a pretty big project, involving either heads and cam, forced induction, or NOS.

Well to drop 2 secs is no easy task. But definitlely looking at shelling out some cash. I suggest head work, cam, supercharger, stall converter, gears, NOS, those are some of the big things, but make sure to really strengthen the engine.

I think with a cam, headwork, gears, stall converter, a supercharger and NOS, you'd gain more than just 2 seconds!! JMO.

Hey, nobody has mentioned running slicks yet!! Aren't they worth a few tenths of a second?!

Well,, taking 1 second off the current e.t. is a piece of cake.. I suggest calling Nitro Dave's Performance, and ordering the Nitrous Express Kit for your LS1. It will give you 150 horsepower(safely), and will only cost you $500... If you can, speak to Dave Vasser(owner), and he'll give you all the info you need.. phone#(254)235-3288.. As was mentioned in the previous post, you'll then need a set of Mickey Thompson E.T. streets, due to the unreal torque produced from the kit. Heck,, 2000's will run around 13.20 out of the box.. Another $1,000 for SLP stuff, as well as the "free mods" from InstallUniversity.com,, and you'll("your friend"), will be smiling!!
