need louder exhaust

my flowmaster 3-chamber sounds ok, but i would like something louder. i've seen a lot of talk about the loud mouth, would it be louder than my current setup?

also, if anyone has a used loud mouth system for sale, let me know.

thanks

Get a cutout about $30+install, and for another $100-180 you can get an electric one to open and close while driving.

I second that. I have a hooker exaust and it's great for daily driving but the cutout rocks when you want it loud. Plus it's cheap. And if you can afford the electric cut out (I just ordered one) then it's the perfect setup.

forgive my ignorance, but could you explain what a cutout is? is it what it sounds like, just an opening in the muffler? when you say $30 plus install, who sells these and what exactly is the "cutout" part? any cutting or welding for installation?

thanks

Go to an exhaust shop and have them remove your muffler and weld in a Y (basically a loudmouth). Cost me $60 instead of $300. Sounds alot better than a cutout too.

A cutout is a piece of steel with a hole welded into your I-pipe before your muffler. It dumps the exaust there and is really loud. You can order the cutout at www.thunderracing.com and look for the flowtech race ready cutouts. They're $30. To get it installed, just take it to a muffler shop and they'll cut your i-pipe and weld it on there for about $20.

Actually there's a picture of the cutout on in the website in my signature. I think it's on the exterior portion of the site. Any questions, just ask.

Cool

wow, thanks for all the replies. i think with my current monetary situation, i'll look into the cutout. if i understand right, using the cutout, most of the exhaust exits the cutout, but some will still exit through the muffler? i guess flow through each pipe would be proportional to the resistance of that path, so very little would go through the muffler. is the cutout about the same as the loud mouth, or is it louder?

thanks again
