Need Information about exhaust systems

Hi

I need you help because I would like to put a new exhaust system under my 2001 Camaro Z28 ( For explanation I'm German and we have very strict rules for the Level of Exhausts and Loudness). So I would like to know wether you could give me advise which exhaust systems I coluld use. I would like to get some more power and sound.
But please only write íf you know that the system got a german ABE (Allgemeine Betriebserlaubnis) or how loud it is.

Thanks for your help

Re: Need Information about exhaust systems

You could probably help us out if you could give us a maximum dB level.

Sorry I forgot the max level is 100db, I think it's during, how do you call it when the engine is just running without pushing the gas?

But without being rude to you I think he is right. It's better not to answer a question than talking rubbish. Of course I undrstood you, but I'm not used to such a behavior.

PS: Thanks teke184 unfortunately they don't have the db levels but now I know how it would sound.

That is - 'to idle', or 'idling'. I think in your situation the best exhaust you could get is a Magnaflow catback. I do not know the dB, but it is quiet compared to everything else...sounds awesome when you get on it though! I had one on my car and loved it.

Quietest performance exhaust is the SLP Dual Dual. It came stock on SS cars. I have it and love it. Very quiet, yet still deep. Definently under 100db. Performance wise, I only gained 5 rwhp with an open cutout (basically open headers) so it flows very well. Also, you can find them relatively cheap used since a lot of people want louder.

I would give another vote to the magnaflow. A buddy of mine has it on his 99 Z and it is actually ver quiet when the car is just at idle... on WOT it sounds pretty good

Excellent point there but in actual response to your question....first do you have a price range?...If thats not too big of an issue check out the bassani tru-dual, or y pipe systems i believe they now offer them in a much more affordable alluminized versions. Mine before the headers was rather quiet at idle sounds good wide open....by 100db do you mean WOT or just idle, id say youd have no prob at all at idle wot possibly but ive heard louder vehicles with holes in their muffler

I just ignore that because: You should never discuss with an idiot because sooner or later you are going to get down on his level.

Many thanks to the rest of you people
You really helped me out. Now I'm going to check out how they sound at the komepage that teke184 told me. And then I'm going to try to bring them through the Tüv ( Technischer Überwachungsverein ).

Also dann eine Beulen - und Ticketfreie Fahrt

Re: Need Information about exhaust systems

I'm thinking someone may have a short lifespan on this site.
First you say the LM is quiet and gets quieter when you remove cats and you say you were trying to "help" by telling him the SLP was good? Do you not know that the dual/dual is totally different than the LM? There are holes all in your "I'm just trying to help" story. So, which are you, a smart a$$ or a dumb a$$? Either way you are the epitomy of the "Ugly American."

Want to talk about dumb questions? Who is the tool who asked which SC would be the easiest to install in his LT1 in the LS1 ENGINE TECH FORUM????

Yes he could stick w/ German cars. BMW and Benz both have cars that would more than likely hand you your a$$ in the 1/4, up top and on a track.

Back to the matter at hand. California has a 95 dB limit. I would think any catback legal there would work in Deutschland. The Hooker catback is also pretty quiet and flows very well and cost less than others. Hooker and the SLP dual/dual are 2 most quiet but both still flow very well.

I was just pointing out the fact that you type like you are 5 years old.

Maybe I should grow some *****. But that would be kind of odd seeing as I am a female.
