Need help with unknown sound
When I drive my car through some rough surface or small bumps on the road, there's a metal cling coming from, I think, the back of the car. Sounds like metal hitting metal. I tried to look under the car to see if I could find the source with no luck. Anybody know what it could be? It doesn't always sound, is just when I go by over some small bumps and rough surfaces. Thanks for any help.

probably what's happening to my car too. Your shocks are hitting the end of each other, mostly happends on the rear right side I bet? Race alot? Have a heavy stereo? I have a single 12 inch sub in the back and depends on some bumps my car hits itself pretty card and its always the rear. i think my shocks are blown......

I hear it at the rear, not sure if it's the right or left side. I don't race it a lot, and have the stock sound system. I don't have any BMR suspension stuff nor a LM. I do have a Flowmaster muffler but the noise was there before I installed it.

I have the same sound but it only started after my corsa. I need to get the *** up on ramps and check, but what I think it may be is a metal heat sheild about the rear axel (right side of car). And with a 3" pipe there isn't a whole lot of clearance. I have never heard of shocks rattling?

I have all stock suspension and nothing in the trunk. The rear end on these cars is just noisy. However, if you have an aftermarket exhaust, I would check to see if the over-axle pipe is banging.

Have you checked your spare tire yet?Sometimes they come loose and make a "cling" sound whenever you hit a bump.Good luck.

I've noticed the same noise in my 2000 SS. A tiny, "clink-clink-clink" that seems directly related to over-road motion, coming from the rear. THE THING THAT I NOTICE IS THAT IT GOES AWAY AFTER I'VE DRIVEN A FEW MILES FROM A COLD START, AND DOESN'T RE-APPEAR UNTIL STARTING OFF ON NEXT DAY'S TRIP.
Do you guys have any ideas on what might be causing this?
