Yeah stock for stock the LT1 will get raped by an LS1.
BUT, with a few mods the old LT1 won't be such a slouch, also Parts for the LT1 will be cheaper.
If you want a quick bolt on car I'd go LS1, but if you ever want to build the engine up I'd go LT1, in my experience I've noticed the LT1 can handle punishment way better than the LS1, But its up to you, If you are happy with your car, but want it to be faster, or as fast as your pals, I'd say get some headers, exhaust, a CAI, gears and that will get you past your pals car, or if your an auto get a stall too.
It depends on what you want if power, and speed is all your interested in build the LT1, but if you out-of-the-box power LS1 for sure.
BTW -- do you own your 94, or still pay for it?

Thanxs Kris for your input.Just recieved phone call form my friend. He just got back from the track with 13.30 time slips in 107 range.Well going by your list and many others with the same mods give or take are only traping in the 101 to 104 range. While most stock or near to stock lsi's are traping in 105 to 107 range shows me that they are way up on power.Still am considering but do not know.Sounds like you have two very nice cars good luck with both.
