Need help about buyin a chip??
Re: Need help about buyin a chip??
best thing would be a dyno tune...probably $350 or so
other than that:
www.pcmforless.com
www.madz28.com
tell them what you want tuned and they'll hook you up

Re: Need help about buyin a chip??
If you are bone stock, you are not in need of any tune (or rather you would be wasting your $ now)
If you have minor mods like exhaust, intake and whatnot then the tune still wont do wonders for you..
When you start to get into the car; like a cam or some headwork then you will start to reap the benefits of a tune.. and for some cams you will need to have a tune..
So no more talk of "chipping" an LS1.. or LT1 for that matter.. unless you are in a 1993 LT1 with speed density.. hehe

Re: Need help about buyin a chip??
i wouldn't say that psycho...
even on a stock car, or MINOR boltons you can benefit from a more aggressive tune.
throw on a 160stat and tune the fans to come on earlier
shift points if it's an auto
rev limiter a smidgen higher
remove skip shift if it's M6
i think madwolf claims 10-13hp gain on stock and mildly modded (no headers even) cars.
$250 is pricey...but not as much as a programmer. and doesn't he offer free re-tunes (or cheaper) for 6 months?
but i agree with your last comment
i've heard this several times since owning a 4th gen:
"yo man...you should put a chip in it...you'd be making 350hp no problem!"

Re: Need help about buyin a chip??
Personally, I like what comes with the Predators. There's some minor adjustability on my end to tweak shift points, firmness, adjust tire sizes, fuel ratios, spark advance, etc. If that's not enough, the place I bought it from offers unlimited/free custom tuning that I can download into the unit. Considering some places dyno tune with the Predator, I don't think it's quite the waste of money everyone makes them out to be...especially for someone like myself who has neither the time or the patience to learn and experiment with LS1edit or HPtuners.
Re: Need help about buyin a chip??
dyno tuning with LS1 edit or HP tuners is your best bet but is usually expensive. i paid a place that will retune for free but i shelled out some serious cash for the initial tune. you may not need it with just minor bolt ons, but i've seen 330 rwhp out of a bone stock 02 TA, which i'm damn impressed with being i dyno'd 310rwhp with minor mods and no tune.
