My tire has a flat spot
For the past week for two I've noticed a thump when I start rolling like I've got a some what flat tire. I notice it all the way up to about 40 MPH and it seems to go away after that.
I finally took it in to Les Schwab and they diagnosed it as a flat spot on the tire . They took me in to the shop and showed me that on one spot on the back left tire, half the tread is gone, as if that wheel had locked up in a big skid.
3 - 4 weeks ago I tried out my 1/4 mile time using my Tazzo. Once I got pas 100 MPH, I slammed on the brakes. I was surprised how long it took to stop, seemed like forever. Also it seemed the ABS didn't work too well as the tires were skidding quite a bit.
I'm guessing that's what did it.
It looks like I'll just have to drive on it. It's still got a decent amount of tread left on the flat spot.
Has anyone had this sort of thing happen to them?
BTW,My 1/4 was 14.5 @ 102 MPH. I suppose I could do better. That was with a passenger and of course my woofer, which probably adds 100+ pounds.

if you are on stock tires, replace them as that will help your time. Make sure ur device is correctly callibrated, and yes, every 100lbs adds or takes away about .1 of your speed, so your time would be 13.9-14.0. My first track experience yielded me a 14.02 and I was pissed. That was on crappy tires and hot summer. Now that I have good tires and its cold and more experience I'm sure I'll be between 13.8-13.9. Check out www.discounttiredirect.com - they have free shipping. Do some searches for good tires on this site. If the tire bothers you enough to ask about it, I would prob replace it. Might want to have the ABS system checked out too.
