My LS1 traps 97...help!

After months of looking, I found my LS1. Unfortunately, when I took it to the track it would not trap over 97 mph. My best timeslip is as follows:
60' 2.115
330 5.982
1/8 9.120
mph 79.16
1/4 14.122
mph 97.55
The car is a bone stock A4 Vert, but shouldnt i be trapping around 100? The car has no noticeable running problems. Any thoughts/comments would be appreciated.

are you floored the entire time? letting the A4 do its thing and shift by itself? That does seem unusally low, even for a vert..

how many miles? tuneup?

I had the same problem with my car. I got a good 60 foot but top end was bad. I noticed the wires on the MAF were black. I cleaned them off and wow I went from 100 mph to 106 ish I think the oil from the kn filter got on there and then dirt after. I had to get the autotap program to read my parameters and noticed my timing and air flow was off. It was unable to read the air commin in and messed up everything. Try that and see if you have dirt on the wires. May not have but sounds like what mine was doing.

I LOVE my Paper Fram Air Filter... No fancy oils or anything like that. just drop it in, tight seal for my SLP lid and no gunk on my MAF. WOOT! SCREW K&N

It might still have the factory spark plugs. I got my car w/47k on it, changed the plugs at 50k. Made a big difference. The factory plugs were DOA, a few were missing the pucks on the ground electrode. 100k plug life = massive bovine excrement.

What kind of weather conditions are you running in? If you in a higher altitude area running in hot/humid/sticky weather, 14.1 is possible. People have seen .3-.4 second differences due to weather.

Definitely.

Did you pop the hood and make sure there's an LS1 in there and not an engine with a horsie plaque on the throttle body?

I may sound like an idiot, but this is why i never once have taken a car i owned to the track, if you run a slow time then it will eat at you, if you dont have the money to fix it its even worse.....im to afraid to find out

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love this car despite the trap speed. I was just suprised that it ran IDENTICAL times as my 95 Z28 Vert. I have since cleaned the MAF/TB/Intake manifold(I used some sand). New spark plugs are going in tomorrow. I will be hitting the track again on Thursday. I'll let everyone know how she does.

Change your fuel filter while you're at it.

I have NEVER had any probs related to a K&N. Some people are idiots and over oil them, so others then jump on the K&N sucks bandwagon. Kind of like the crap about SSRA easily sucking up water. Ya it can, in extreme cases.

What gears do you have? What kind of weather were you running in? When you cleaned your MAF, did you make sure not to touch the little sensors?

It wouldn't suprise me to see a '98 convertible automatic car trap less than 100 in bad weather, especially with 2.73s
