Muff I mean Mufflers
Muff I mean Mufflers
I decided to sell my loudmouth, I am running Long tube headers by SLP into their high flow cats into their high y-pipe and so on. I decided to sell my loudmouth and I'm going with the center mounted exhaust system that you could only buy on a few SLP SS in 2002. The exhaust pipe is 2 1/2 vs 3inch which is what the loudmouth is. The new exhaust also has a muffler on it. From what I have read their SLP mufflers are pretty good flowing mufflers, better then slowmaster and so on. Now I have a nice size cam in my car now a Com 224/228 with a 581/589 lift on a 112LSA I think it will have a better sound with a little more back pressure also. Plus I am getting so tired of every time I take off I'm losing more and more of my hearing
but really I was posting woundering what some of you guys think? I might lose 5-8RWHP with the new exhaust but with the increase backpressure might pick up more RWTQ but I shouldn't even feel the differences. If so I'll see what the car sounds like with the cats off and a 3inch pipe in place. so any input would be great.
thanks.

There is nothing particulary special about the center mount SLP exhaust as far as flow. I believe the center mount was an appearence option and could be on either the standard SS muffler or could come with the higher flowing dual/dual muffler.
The higher flowing dual/dual is a 3". So if the one your getting is a 2 1/2"?? - stock is 2 3/4" - then you are getting a lower flowing system ... closer to the stock muffler. You may lose a couple of ponies and ... no you won't pick up any torque.

SLP has two center exhaust systems, OEM and aftermarket the later one is the quad tip design where as the OEM is two ovals.
All OEM and Aftermarket systems use the SLP muffler and 2 3/4 I.D. I-Pipe, although the quad tip parts could be orderd to fit a GM SS/Z28 muffler.
