Moroso Blue Max wires???

MOR72535 - Moroso Blue Max Spiral Core Spark Plug Wire Set - 1998-2002 Camaro & Firebird LS1

Any of you use these?
I hade them on my LT1 and was happy and my other friends have been fairly happy with them as well.. In fact, one of our friends kept burning up Taylors and went with Moroso and all was good..

So, I am currently in search of these.. They seem to be scarce..Summit shows delivery time of July 8 and after watching it for the past 2 months its just a date that they keep adding to..

Im at 94K miles and think its time for new cables.. and plugs.. of which I will go with bosch plats (single)..

I ran Moroso wires on my 70, but haven't on my 00. They were good wires and I'd imagine they will be for the LS1. Mallory also makes good wires, but I doubt they have them for the LS1 yet.

Its been my experience that there is nothing wrong with Bosch Plats. I've ran them in both our cars for many miles. The GA has 160k miles. My SS has 80k miles. Unlike other platunim plugs, they don't have that puck of metal to fall off into the cylinder which is a good thing IMO. I'm now running NGK TR-55's in my SS to see what all the hype was, but there has been no difference except that I'll have shorter plug life with the copper.

Thumbs up

I have a friend that uses the granatelli plug wires for the ls1. He loves them! They claim increased horsepower torque and mileage. He said he could feel the difference, and he only had 45k miles on his camaro

I use the Bosch singles too, first on the SS and now the Z. No issues with either, felt a big improvement over the factory plugs on the SS with ~ 50k on it, not a lot on the Z with ~ 20k on it. How many miles did you go on the Boschs?

In the past on all my cars I have used Bosch Plats.. Why? Because they are damn good.. I do not want to do this job (plug change) for another 95ishK miles. Sooo, seeing as how they performed great in the past, I will continue with them..

I am not a fan of the NGK nor the Taylors.. Hype is usually all that it is..

I do not expect any "power" gains. I do expect to see a miss disappear that I currently experience on rare occassions.

Bosch Plats are under $3 and last at least twice as long as copper. I went 50k miles before changing them, where as I'll probably do good to get 20k out of the copper plugs.

angel71, I personally won't go over 50k miles on plats. I change them at that point and can feel a difference in how smooth the engine runs. IMO, they have lived their life at that point and need to be changed.

Actually my engine developed a low RPM rattle (sounds like valve clatter) since changing to the TR55. I pulled them and there is a nice defined burn spot on the ceramic of each plug. I'm thinking pre-ignition. I have already checked valve lash, exhaust leak. etc.

The only way he felt a difference was if the previous wires were toasted. The factory wires are pretty damn good and the LS2 wires with the angled boots are IMO even better.
Insofar as plugs, I'm partial to the NGKs and run the TR6s (383 + nitrous) in my Z28 gapped at .038... The TR5s and TR55s are also good and I check/change my plugs too often in my other vehicles to make platinum/iridium worthwhile...

I honestly believe the length of our wires are way to short for any difference to be made from brand to brand and since they don't come near the exhaust manifolds to be fried, then any aftermarket brand should be just fine...

Well, I ordered the blue max's.. Almost went with the Ultra 40's but finally found the Blues in stock for a decent price.

As soon as they come in, I will change my plugs and wires.. Should be fun.

The first time is a total pain in the *** on the passenger side only... Driverside I cleared in 15 minutes just taking my time for plugs and wires... ... Passengerside, let me tell ya... take off the AIR Pipe - it uses two 10 mm bolts - I didn't have to relocate the coils personally I just used shorter rachets... The 6th one is the hardest... ...Oh and #8 is actually very easy if you get to it from the bottom...

I think I could do this job in probably an hour and a half now...
