More Power Needed, Please Help, Currently Have 400RWHP/379RWTQ
Like the title says I am looking to get a little more power out of my car.
The car is a 01 A4 Z28 that has 400RWHP/379RWTQ. I have Absolute Speed heads 10:8:1, TR 224/224 563 on a 114 cam, Fast 78mm intake and throttle body, 2800 Stall with 2.5str.
The car runs 12.1-12.2s but I am looking for mid 11s. I was thinking of bumping my cam up to a 580+ lift cam on a 112. I figure that would have to be good for soem additioanl PWR. I was looking at a STS turbo but it is $5,800 with a tune, Meth injection, injectors and a fuel ssytem upgrade.
I really don't want to do NOS.
Just wondering what peoples thoughts are for this? I may still end up with the STS Turbo kit if that is what it will take. I just hate to have thta much cash tied up if at all possible. I am also going to bump my converter to a 3800 stall.

I would do the gear swap next. I haven't been to the track yet but i went from 3.23 to 3.73 and it was unreal! Then i'd bump up the stall to maybe a 3600 or so. You are already making tons of power, if you get into the sc and turbos i think traction will be your worst enemy along with destroying that rear end. After the gear swap look into a set of drag launch springs and better shocks/struts. I'm not sure if you have an air lid and a super sucker ram air with the free ram air mod, these are nice additions for top end pulling power. With your mods maybe 20 to 25 more rear wheel hp?

3.73s will get your times down no doubt.
Also, any reason you don't have longtubes? You're leaving power on the table.
Junk that TR224. There are more modern and power cams out now, specifically the Futral Motorsports F-13, F-14, or F-15 (depending on what size you're looking for)
Also, 400rwhp with heads/cam is EXTREMELY weak even for an auto car. I've never heard of absolute speed, but apparently the heads they did for you are garbage. I'd get the new Dart 205 or 225cc heads if they are in your budget. Now, I know you're going to look at my mods and say "Hey, but you have a 6-speed." That's true, but I also have the Vette IRS which eats the hell out of rwhp. My car made 412rwhp with a cam-only and no underdrive pulley and stock unported TB.
Also the Fast 78/78 is a bust. There's no reason you shouldn't have gone with the FAST 90/90 setup.
I don't know who told you how to setup your car, but it definetly has more in it.

I wouldn't bash the AS heads, I made 435 rwhp and 405 rwtq with those heads. They are milled to 11.2/1 compresion and the 90/90 intake and Kooks long tubes.
I notice that your heads are a stage 1. If that is the stock valves then your H/C is pretty much at its limit.

My car has stage 1 garbage heads as you put it and a Fast 78 (they hadn't even finished the 90 yet when I got mine) with a ported stock TB.
It has run 11.24 and consistantly runs 11.3s -4s.
You don't have to have the best of the best and the biggest baddest to run good numbers. Hell I've never even had mine on a dyno. You need a good combination of parts.

400rwhp through an auto....with just stage 1 heads and a mild 224 cam is pretty reasonable.
i think that's about average for that cam.
better heads would definatly wake the car up, as would the stall and gears

Like Al said it's set up, 400rwhp is enough for a mid 11 second car if you know how to use it.
