Question Modding a Firehawk

I'd like to take this time to introduce myself. My name's David and I'm really glad to have found this site, there's a lot of useful information and knowledgable people here.

My question is this: Should I mod my 2001 Firehawk? It's completely stock right now and I'm debating over wether or not to do anything to it. I know as a collector's item it will be worth more in the long run if I don't do anything to it. I think I want to get different exhaust though, like a flowmaster or something, maybe even an LS6 intake or headers. I don't want to do much more than simple bolt-ons. What would you do?

First off, welcome to the board. Second, your situation can be solved on what YOU want. If you want a collector's item, well, the Firehawk isn't TOO rare. As far as mods, there's PLENTY you can do that is just as easily reversible, like most of the bolt ons. In my eyes, I can't see how someone would buy such a great car and not enjoy it. So why let it sit and collect dust? Drive it... mod it... hell, maybe even race it. But yeah, just whatever make you happy. I would only consider collecting a car if I knew what I was getting into. Firehawks are actually pretty plentiful. There's what... about 2,000 models for each year? Now unless you got one of those 10 out of 2000 models or something like that, why torture yourself by watching it gain in value (which would take a while) I dunno, all of this of course is just my opinion, but you asked for it

Thanks for the reply. I think I will just stick to simple bolt-ons that are easily reversible if I do decide to mod it. As for production numbers, there were exactly 504 2001 Firehawks made and shipped to America and only 202 of them were black. You can find all sorts of stuff about them at firehawk.org . Here's a link for the production numbers for 2001 http://www.firehawk.org/article.html?ID=2498

If I do mod it, what mods should I do?

Nice car... I dont believe the car was meant to just sit in the driveway and wait to gain value. Why waste alot of $$$ on a car if youre not going to have any fun with it? I would definitely modify it. Start with basic bolt ons... just make sure the mod bug doesnt bite you hard after you swap parts

Since you are thinkin exhaust, get flowmaster if you want but its no more performance then your seeing now they suck IMO just sound is all they got going for'em.
Why not a nice set of Finish Line Performance headers,Hookers, maybe Jethot. And a nice catback exhaust like Corsa or Borla, maybe Magnaflow which I have and love it best performance for the $$.
Welcome to the board,
Tony

As far as modding goes, I say half the fun of owning one of these cars is being able to tinker with and add to it. Unless you plan to keep the car for 25-30 years, I don't think you'll see much of an increase in value at least in the near future. Why not enjoy it and have fun now? Ohh, btw your car already has an LS6 intake, 01's and 02's came standard with them.
