I'd say just run dino oil. Sitching back over to see if that'll stop the leak won't hurt anything. The only reason I could see the synth causing a leak would be on a high milage engine with semi wornout seals. The molecules of the synth are smaller letting them pass through.

Yep, he's correct. Synthetic oil is thinner than conventinal oil. Because of this, it leaks out of worn seals easier.

I'd move to some high-milage oil like Valvoline high-milage formula or similar

Dude,

If you have oil leak from the back of your intake I would say that your probably didn't completely fix the problem the last time.

I'm not saying that you don't know how to fix intake oil leak but it can be tricky to getting the intake back on the block and sealed up. This has been a common problem with others in the past and many people have contributed the rear intake leak to be caused by different things. Alot of them said that the rear portion of the block where the intake is leaking at was completely flat. Meaning the rear of the block where the intake sits on sometimes comes from the factory with casting imperfections.

I been using Mobil 1 Syn in all my stuff and never has it ever been linked to causing leaks nor have I heard of this happening because of oil leak. As for it being synthetic that doesn't mean that the oil gets thinner it just in the simplist way of saying it coats to the internals parts better helping to reducing friction and wear among other things. Look at the viscosity 5W30 this what determines weight of oil. The higher the number lets say 20W50 is heavy! Any thingless than this gets thin but if a oil happens because of thinner oil then thats a problem that needs to be fixed anyway.

I'm not sure what RTV your using but if you want a super good RTV to use next time go to Napa or parts store and ask for THE RIGHT STUFF I think Permitex makes it? If you you put a good 1/2 bead on the back rail and get the intake on top of it you shouldn't have any more problems if this is the only problem.

Thanks alot Jim.......
My car is ready within 1 week...... I already bought Mobil 1 oil...
but the viscosity of it is 10w-30........
but one of my friends says that I should take 20w-50 'cause we are in middle east
One More Question : in the first 1000 km(621.371 m) which oil viscosity should I use
thanks again guys

Synth does have a tendancy to find its way past worn seals. Now that you've replaced them, you should be able to run synth oil without any problems. I'd stick with whatever the manual says to run in an LT1 in hot climates unless you have a problem with burning oil. Running a higher viscosity oil than recommended can cause problems with oil circulation.

BTW - this is the LS1 board. From what we can tell you have a 95 which has an LT1 engine. Completely different engines. Somebody from the LT1 board might be more knowledgable in viscosity oil to put in a 95 F Body.

If it where my motor and the bore was fresh with new rings my advice would be to break the motor in with nonsynthetic oil! 10/40 is fine. From my experience when using synthetic in a fresh motor the piston rings more than likely will not entirelly seat. What happens is the synthetic oil coates so well to the cylinder bores that the cylinder walls become to slick for the rings to properly seat thus causing the rings to gal. Meaning that the rings don't seal correctly not to mention lower power and the engine could start to smoke out of the rear tail pipes. The way to resolve this is to disassemble the motor and deglaze the bores and try again.

Like I said if it where me I would regular nonsynthetic oil for breakin oh say, at least till 3000 to 6000 miles or until you feel the motor is good to go.

I know becuase I ended up tearing a new motor apart after 3200 miles do to use of synthetic oil use after 500 miles. You should have seen this motor smoke!

Good Luck!

But only if it was entirely rebuilt. If they just replaced seals. Don't worry about it.

Anyway....you gave me all I need of information
I'll run my engine with nonsynthetic oil for more than 500 miles...
then I'll use Mobil 1 oil
Thanks again to all of you...and Have anice day

Thumbs up

I've used Mobil 1 in all my camaros since 1987. It has never CAUSED a leak. If you have dried out or damaged seals/gaskets, they should be replaced anyway
