Ok here you go, yes I do have an automatic, but have many times run my dad's m6 99 Vette, rather well I might add. Some really good shifting techinques I picked up just based on hand placement on the shifter. If you have your palm on the right side of the shifter with your thumb on top your body has a natural tendency to pull in towards you so if you use this for the 1st to 2nd shift that is great, so when you get in to 2nd slide your hand underneath the **** just a little off center to the left that way you will be in perfect position to go straight into 3rd, so from there you should slide your hand on the same side to the top of the shifter and with your hand off center to the left again your hand will be in a postion where you body will not allow you to shift into 2nd thus preventing high rpm downshifts to 2nd. Works really well in my experiences. Hope this helps so you dont have any more missed shifts.

Thats what i hated about my stock hurst shifter, designed to wrap around the shifter instead of over. Replaced it with a fat hurst ball, helps my shifting alot. Plus whenever i would shift hard sometimes the **** would spin. Got to love the lock system on the hurst *****.

Look son, this here board is obviously for F-body owners and enthusiasts. Noticing how you don't seem to own one (see sig), then one can assume you desire to own one! I can understand your F-body envy; after all, everybody gets tired of losing all the time. Tell ya what, ponyboy, I'll see if I can't find ya a nice used LT1 out here in the desert. You go ahead and shoot your Pony, and we'll sell her carcass to a glue factory, and use the money to get you your F-body!
Yes, I called you "Son"!!!

Allright Man! You need to calm the f@#k down! You must realize your car is not God's gift to man just like the LS1 is not either. Whoopty Dooo! You have a supercharger, I can get one too, but alot of other people already have them on this board, along with strokers, and nitrous, heads, cams, etc. Point is you will not really kill RaceChick in an actual race, because well you will not actually meet up with her to race her. Dont be an e-racer, who knows she might just kill you, its possible you may miss a shift or her car may just be that damn fast, you never know. Yah my sig says stock, but Im lazy I dont change my sig, or do I, she may not either. You know what happens when you assume!!!

... and bend more of those DOHC pushrods

Plenty of good advice here. Pull a valve cover, roll the pushrods one at a time across something you are sure is flat. (I have an old mirror I used to use frequently for my 72 442 which would bend pushrods all the time (gotta love those old Olds Small blocks -> no rev limiter, way more recipricating weight than a SBC, gobs more torque )
Just make sure you have the ability to clean up the mating surface for the valve cover (lil brake parts cleaner works well), and you are willing to replace the gasket again if it doesnt go right. (If you are a novice, all the wiring and the firewall make it somewhat difficult to get everything lined up.)
Obviously if you bent the pushrods other damage may have occurred including damaged/collapsed lifters, cam damage, bent rockers, or rocker retainers. Might want to take a look at those while you have everything apart (Cam might be tough to inspect, but it would be the last thing I would think would fail)

Good Luck!!

Get them checked or check them yourself. It is difficult to tell if you bent them with just the ear. I was not sure unitl we opened her up.
I hate to admit it but I did the same thing earlier this year. I was just about to cross the line in 3rd (had 3:42's at the time) right at 6000 and I pulled it back into 2nd (the tranny didn't suck it in, I F'd up ) Anyway I never heard my motor scream like that, and I thought for sure something had to be broken. I stopped after that run and checked it out, the motor didn't sound the least bit different, and ran fine. I ran it 2 more times that day and no problems at all. I was impressed at the durability of the good old LT1

You are just mad because you busted your hymen pony back riding. Not to be a total b*tch, but for real, how many farm tractors in did you have to race to claim your thrown as the pony king? As I'm sure there are not that many race cars in Okee-Dokee-Oklahoma. And my next question is... how can you possibly disgrace the almight chevy KING (Z06) by parking your my little pony next to it. For God sake man have some respect! Have you no shame?!?!
