Post Mid-lengths or Longtubes???

I'm planning on installing headers soon and would like to get some peoples opinion. Are the LTs worth the extra money? Or do the Mid-lengths perform just as good? I will not be installing cats if that makes a difference.

My choices for headers were:
Mac mid-lengths
Hooker LT
FLP

Also, are there any other headers (mid of LT) that I should consider?

Thanks,
Tim

Cool

hey i see you have an 01, the ex manifolds on 00+ cars actually are very good, dont waste your time with mids they are nice but the longtubes are so much better, if you dont ever plan on doing a cam swap save yourself some $$$$ and just buy yourself an ory-pipe and simms there wont be 10hp differace between the two,(unless you cam it) for what its worth, i bought slp longtubes because they were stainless steel then coated, (no rust ever) the headers that i have had before that were just coated all rusted, hope this helps

if you are going to get headers, get LT's...period. dont waste your time and money with mids. LT's will prove to be much more beneficial not only if thats the last thing you ever do to your car, but esp. if you ever do, heads, cam, blower.

Here's the deal:

If you are planning on having a stock motor, long tubes aren't really going to offer anything a midlength can't. The horsepower gains are minimal, one or two horses. If you are planning on adding a cam or anything else, you would be choking performance by having mids on your car. However, what it comes down to is this:

Mids are readily available USED for very little cash. You can find a few sets on LS1.com at any given time.

Hooker long tubes are the best value, and have a financing plan available. I went with midlengths because I got a great deal on them used, and it'll be a while before I can afford a cam.

LT's! This is the general consensus right now on the board. I will be getting mine in a year or two.
