Many Exhaust Questions

Ok, the time is near for exhaust. I don't know much yet but thats why I am here . I was planning on getting a loudmouth catback system for my ls1 formula. I was told that no cats is the way to go, but other exclaim that its too loud. I want a mild note at idle but a badass note at WOT. Should i go for just the slp catback or slp no cats or another muffler or what? Another question is the process of removing the cats and replacing them. I know nothing about that either. Im sorry im a little ignorant. Thanks to all in advance.

Yeah, Borla will be nice, especially since it has an adjustable plate, so if it's too loud, close up the plate (it'll still be decently loud even w/ it closed).

As for gutting your cats, don't plan on passing emissions w/ that. You can do it yourself, but it'll be a pain in the *** if you don't know much about exhaust. If you can weld, you can unbolt the cat from the y-pipe and then cut it off on the other side, then just take a pic and jam the hell out of the inside of the cat to get all the honeycomb material out, then simply bolt/weld it back on. If you can't weld, you can take off the whole setup and do it, which is a definite pain in the ***. Personally I wouldn't guy a cat, I'd stick w/ hi-flow ones, but if you really want to do it, I suggest you find a muffler shop that's ok w/ welding an empty cat on. Then do the unbolt and cut it off, gut it, then drive w/ basically open headers to the muffler shop (that'll be fun ) and get them to put it back on.
