major power loss

well after all my mods the car was running great awsome power for a bout 2 months then...

when i went to hit from like a 30 roll today it feels like i'm in a mini van it gradually picks up speed mabe half of what it used to do

it whet from throwing you into the back of your seat to gradually reclining you so any ideas

the fuel pump hase been gettin louader these days but i wouldn't think a fuel pump whould do this and i still have some power from a stop but from a roll i lost my tire roasting capabilitys

i've heard fuel filter mabe but i replaced that bout 6 months ago and wouldn't think a fule filter whould be that extreme

thanks srry its so long

I would test the fuel pressure first.

Your fuel filter may be partially clogged which would cause symtoms such as you are describing.

Is the ride a little rough at all, like a little jerky? Because of it is that, you could be have some early misfiring. Your spark plug/ wires might be off timeing a little. But I would check the fuel filter before your spark plugs.

Here's what happened, usually when you floor it around 30 the car probably drops down to first gear and you are thrown to the back of your seat, well this time when you floored it at 30 it switched to 2nd gear. I'm just gonna go ahead and guess you have 2.73 gears, so when it went to 2nd gear you were probably around 2500 rpms, there's no power there in a very large gear. That's the LS1's dead spot, go out tonight and floor the car at 20 or 60 and you will see that the car is just fine, you just hit the dead spot of the ls1's rpms, don't worry about it.

your right about the 2.73's but 30 used to be a sweet spot and with the TC i didn't think there were going to be spots that dead i know some better then others mabe why would 30 go from being a sweet spot to such a dead spot ,but hope your right

As I said, maybe when you floored it one time the car was going slow enough to drop to first gear where it rocketed off, this time you were going to fast for 1st gear so it switched to second gear where the car felt really slow.

i think u might be right about the not down shifting thing but why would a consistant sweet spot from like 30-38 be gone tried it like 6 times today now i hit it from 25 and spin the nitto's so i gues theres not to much loss
and can LS1 edit change the downshifting

I'm not sure about ls1 edit, but I don't ever think 38 mph was ever a sweet spot in your car. The car would only be in 1st for a split second and would have to switch to 2nd gear. I highly doubt your car would downshift to first at that high of a mph. But, transmissions act different in different conditions, like depending on how hot the trans is etc. If the trans was cool on a cool night/day, maybe the trans would shift down to first, I really don't know. But I think ur ok, I don't think you lost any power, if you're still not convinced go smoke a Mustang or something, that usually boosts my confidence.
