I've heard a Z28 with Magnaflow, and I test-drove a Z28 with flows. I'd take the flows over Magnaflow any day of the week. The Magnaflow just didn't have the aggressive sound that flowmasters had. They're really quiet at lower RPM's, and don't get moderately loud until WOT. If you want people to turn their heads when you're cruising, get the flows.

On a car with stock manifolds, Flowmaster is louder. It just really depends on what you plan to do with your car. If it's loud you want, I would look at something other than Flowmaster. There are many better performing mufflers out there.

Do a search on here for dynomouth exhaust. I think it uses a Dynomax bullet muffler. You could also make a custom set-up with the sweet thunder chambered mufflers. Both would be rather loud.

here is my take.............

I would go Magnaflow. It flows better than flowmaster. Now that being said, the Flowmasters will sound a little more aggressive, but the Magnaflows have a cleaner tone at Idle (IMO) and it will get you a little attention, and yes I have heard both on a LS1. Now where the Magnaflows surpasses the Flowmasters (again in MY opinion) Is the performance. It screams like a beast at WOT !!! Also the polished muffler and 3.5 in. tips makes the Magnaflows look better, IMO. Now since you said you are looking for aggressive sound ONLY, then Flowmasters are your choice. If you are looking for the more complete system of the two (good sound, great looks, great performance), then the Magnaflows are for you.

Which reminds me......... I'm getting a set of Magnaflows installed 2morrow, so I might be a little biased.

Im not going to be buying a full cat back I am only going to go with the muffler. So if I was riding through townwhich muffler would give me the more bad *** louder tone. Also whats sweet thunder mufflers sound like? How loud, tone.etc when crusing.

It's pretty much like everyone else said. Cruising around town, the Flowmaster muffler will be louder & more aggressive sounding. I have the Magnaflow catback on my LT1 and it's a little too quiet for me (which is why I also have an e-cutout). If you're just after sound then go with the flow

I have the flowmaster catback on my 2000 Z, I like the sound of it and it turns heads when I give it some gas. I am getting rid of it though and plan on running a Dynomax bullet and having it dump by the rear wheel. I have no complaints though about the Flowmaster even though I have had people tell me that I lose horsepower with the flows.....just my 2 cents

Flowmaster is a great choice. Just give it time to burn in after you install it. It won't be real loud right when it's installed. Mine took about 1,000 miles or so to get the rich-deep sound.
