I heard it is quiet normal driving but at WOT it sounds really good. I know this is the one i am going with.
The Magnaflow is not quiet. It's just not as loud as most other popular mufflers. And you're right, when you get on it, it's loud but sounds great.

Yep, it's just not super loud. So loud you can't here yourself think type loud. It's a very refined and very muscle car sounding. If a guy won't be happy with this exhaust. He's not going to be happy with anything. Beats Flowmaster all to hell.

Thanks for those links.

So both mufflers are the same thing, but one just has the stainless steel finish? $81 is a good price. I don't want to spend $104 for the stainless steel one, because no one will ever see it.

How big is this muffler compared to the stock one?

Pretty much the same as the stock muffler. Fairly heavy too.

Actually, the Magnaflow muffler (the 14267 anyway) is 18 inches wide vs 27inches for the stock muffler- quite a bit smaller and lighter.

Another question.

I'm going to buy the regular one for $81. Do I need to buy anything else before I take it to be installed, or will the exhaust shop take care of it?

The exhaust shop should be able to hook you up with everything necessary to install the muffler. It shouldnt take them long either. You ought to be able to roll out of there in way under an hour.

I have a question though. I think a flowmaster is a pretty loud muffler. Now if thats teh case, how loud would I find a magnaflow? Louder, quieter? Just curious...

I assume you have aquired some new tips as well? I don't know what 'SpidermanForever' did but I went ahead and replaced my tailpipes as well. Your new muffler has 2.5 inch outlets and your old tailpipes are 2.25s. I did all the work myself so I don't know what the muffler shop will do or recommend.

I'm going to get a set of dual outlet, chrome, slash cut tips before I buy the muffler.

I guess I should get a set of tips with 2.5" inlets so they'll fit on my muffler.

I've been looking at these, I'm either getting part #35168 or 35169

If you know of another retailer w/dual outlets with a 2.5" inlet, let me know.

I am sold on Magnaflow also. The quality is great and a stainless catback for under $500 installed is a deal. I had the car put up on the rack to double check all is good under there after driving it for over 4 months and nothing was loose. Even shined like new still.

Magnaflow is quieter than Flowmaster. It's also deeper.

Flow Master catback is quieter then the Magnaflow catback, my dad has the Flowmaster catback on his 02 Z, and mine is noticeably louder then his, as far as just the muffler, the Magnaflow muffler on its own sounds different then the catback, my buddy got the muffler for his '00 after hearing mine, and its a different , quieter sound then the catback.

Yeah, that's pretty strange. I had the flowmaster cat-back and changed to the Magnaflow cat-back and the Magnaflow is DEFINITELY quieter. Is it possible your dad has a different muffler than I did? I had the American Thunder cat-back.

Yes he has the American Thunder Catback, maybe its just me, but mine is louder, I even went over today to compare again! Even he thinks the Magnaflow is louder!? His has been on the car for a year, and mine 6 months if that means anything!
