Magnaflow 3" tips vs stock Z28 tips

I got my Magnaflow last week, but I’m not a big fan of the 3” chromed tips
I decided to install MF catback and keeping the original Z28 tips,

Now wondering if the MF sound ‘ll be same/changed if doing that ?
Louder/quieter? back pressure whatever...

Any advice?
Thanks in advance

Couldn't tell you, but i have a set of Gibson square tips on my MF setup. I love it. Unless the tips are smaller than the exhaust, it will not affect backpressure.

trying to remember what the stock tips have for inlet diameter...i wanna say 2.5 or 2.25"

which should not be a restriction on the exits from the MF...i mean the I-pipe is only 3" single...so two 2.25" pipes would still have more cross sectional area.

sound should be minimally different. would take a very keen ear to pick it out i think

The Magnaflow tips are larger diameter IIRC. So, yes it'll change the sound to a degree. Just like when you talk through a long pipe it'll change the sound.

It might be harder than you think to put the stock tips back on. The stock tips are offset while the MF's are not. Also, the tips on the MF are quite long. Just something for you to think about when you try to do this.

Re: Magnaflow 3" tips vs stock Z28 tips

The stock Z28 tips actually give it a little deeper, beefier tone IMO. It seems to me that those chrome tips cause the exhaust to "ping" a bit on alot of different setups that I've heard. I don't care for that. Not real noticeable except at idle. Hell, I put the Z28 tips on the magnaflow on my old V6 and even that sounded deeper/better/beefier.. Sounded better than my friend's
LS1 w/ Magnaflow w/ stock tips.
