MAF-lid NIGHTMARE

I was all excited to get my direct-flo airlid, Granatelli MAF, and Holley filter only to find that I didn't get my bellows. Oh well, I said so I decided to do the job (most of it) twice. Meaning put in the lid and MAF and do the bellows when it came in. WRONG!!!
To start, the lid no matter how hard I tried would not come loose from the MAF. O.K. then just do the new MAF now right? Nice try. The lid is NOT a good fit (as some have claimed). So I persisted and got the damn thing on eventually. I clamped it on and went on to attach the stock bellows to the Granatelli MAF. No way Jose. Two completely different sizes. I think it is because the stock MAF is smaller than the new bolt on. Anyhow, long story short, I am going to wait for the new bellows and try again.
Before I open myself up for comments I did try to "moisten" as directed, the connecting parts mentioned.
HELP

Tell me about it. It shouldn't make much of a difference unless I decide to go to stock for warranty stuff though. I have my fingers crossed that the new bellows will save the day. Makes sense that the stock bellows wouldn't fit the 85mm MAF though. I am just one of the unlucky ones that couldn't get it to work in the meantime.
