MAF Ends??

Are these worth the money or is it a pointless mod? Do you get real world gains?

Re: MAF Ends??

don't bother

all they are is a glorified "ported maf"

and a search will reveal all the possible problems with those.

i have the ones from GMS. bought them a week after i got my first 4th gen before i knew what i was doing (porting the maf on the 3rd gens helped...so i figured it would on the LT1). never really had a reason to change back...but i sure don't think they are helping me any.

Re: MAF Ends??

I second they are a waste of money, unless you want a little nicer look.

Re: MAF Ends??

Good for LT-1's, bad for LS-1's.

Re: MAF Ends??

All the research I have done on them said they were a no go. Seems that some dyno tuning places won't even attempt to tune your car unless you have a stock MAF.

They're a great mod for lightening your wallet.

Re: MAF Ends??

I could post my results and you could see the detonation caused by them.

67.8*/69* ... they work in those conditions, because they miscalibrate the A/F tables resulting in a lean condition. You can get away with it when the temp is low ... when it warms up you run a risk of detonation ... much the same as the timing tricker.

You can get better and consistant results with a good tune.

Re: MAF Ends??

DanBUCF (a friend of mine) gained some power by taking his aftermarket, larger MAF off and putting the stocker back on. That was before any tuning. Just changing out your MAF tends to have the direct effect of screwing up your A/F ratio.
